‘Stopped him in his tracks’: Outrage after former pro hockey player kills grizzly

Hiding/censoring legitimate hunting activities will accomplish nothing. Why give them the power ?, they are a small uniformed minority fighting for their cause of the week. So sick of the jellyfish bending to the will of keyboard warriors. Grow a set, be proud of your sport and don't forget to vote.

When the wife of a former Conservative Prime Minister is joining the ranks of the antis, who do you suggest we vote for? If the spouse of the next Conservative is an anti, watch out...

I remember a long time ago when I took the hunter education course (CORE) they stressed it was wrong to tie the harvested animal to the roof of your car and drive around town. Is posting on social media any different?

Exactly I’d rather die on my feet than on my knees. Just remember, most of these clowns are clueless about most things they get triggered by, don’t be afraid to troll them right back. I’ll bet 99% of these people losing their minds do absolutely nothing for conservation other than ride a high horse on the keyboard in their parents basement.

the phrase "appropriate venue" comes to mind.

I have nothing against grizzly hunting and in fact support all hunting so my thoughts have nothing to do with any of that.

but what is it with hunters needs to seek glory by posting and boasting on social media?
there is nothing to gain from it period.

Boasting about a kill to your friends , family, gun club members or others in your "personal" life is one thing. Sharing on sites that support hunting like cgn and others is an appropriate venue, sharing among those you interact with personally.... same thing..... appropriate venue.

When i see people posting on global social media outlets thinking that somehow thier actions will be taken positively one day is just foolish and not doing hunting any favors.
Why?
Because it's simply not an appropriate venue.

I used to post pictures like crazy , here, and elsewhere, of my firearms, my hunting successes ect ect untill one day I realized that all I was doing was feeding my ego and looking for that proverbial pat on the back.
Until one day a couple years ago I realized that feeding my ego was taking away from my hunting experience, bringing unwanted negative along with a shred of positive and so I deleted facebook , photobucket ect ect

anyhow..... if hunters think posting thier kills on social media is going to help fellow hunters be understood by all the snowflakes of the world...... those hunters would be delusional.... even with jim shockey in tow :)

Just include gruesome slaughter house vids with your pics asking if they prefer that method over hunting.

This might shut them up.

with all respect 45ACPKING, the world is moving forward, if we decide not to be part of or share our heritage on media’s like fb/instagram/tweeter until we find an appropriate media for ourselves we will be pushed into obscurity, and even change the way we think and feel about ourselves, you say it’s about ego, but what else is it about for good part of us, hunters?many of us are not substinace hunters, we do it because we can, basically, we can leave civilization, comfort behind, we can ‘survive’ and conquer the game we hunt, it’s all ego if you want to believe the antis

Absolutely right. At very least, it keeps hunting in the spotlight and people are aware.

At a pig roast this summer, it was amazing how many kids asked me if it was a REAL pig on the BBQ (I was the chef and carver) So I replied, yes it is a REAL pig. When carving portions I made a special effort to ask the kids what kind of pig/pork they like to eat, chops, ham, etc. Even had one child share an ear with me, and cut them the pigs cheeks!!!

Fantastic.

The more technology we use, the less in touch with the basics we get. And we teach that to our children. And I am guilty of that as well.

I don't think the reaction is supposed to be a real surprise for them. They might be acting surprised, of course. Being married to Eva Shockey, they have a very public life to advocate for hunting as a normal everyday thing. It's what they do for a living, in a way. They sell a lot for the hunting industry.

ya, I hear ya man and don't disagree entirely. I'm not judging or trying to preach my views to anyone here. They are merely my personal thoughts on these things.
Anyone coming into my house immediately knows they have entered the den of a hunter hehehe
but facebook..... not a venue i want to share my hunting experiences with it has only brought negative results in my personal experience.

i can only imagine, having seen second hand, the responses that those kind of posts garner on fb, and i agree with you, to certain degree; i would not chose fb to post my hunting stories (fb can go get bent) not do i expect people to do it themselves, but i won’t sit idle when someone is being attacked for posting pix and stories about their experiences

this planet is overcrowded, too many of people live comfortably and idle, their idea of fun is trying to stir the #### up, if we ever lost the civilized ways i would not mourn, i think i would laugh my ass off watching all the parasites of the society try to figure out how to survive another day without google/fb/twitter/insta, internet, period.

Yessireee - would love to watch that and chuckle.

I for one love to see pics of such great animals and successful hunts. I am happy for this fellow and he was elated for sure for his accomplishments. Anyone that disapproves should mind their own business. Happy and safe hunting this season to all!
