1:14 22-250 or 1:9 .223 long range varmint

I've owned 1-14 twist and 1-8 twist 22-250's and some .223's and a couple .17 rems.... and a .243. I currently shoot a 22-250 with 75 amax and it is very accurate and doesn't drift a whole lot in the wind. If I was going to do it again I'd likely choose a 1-10" twist custom barell and dedicate it to the 53g vmax and try to find an accuracy node in the 3700fps+ range. It will outperform (IMHO) the heavy and lighter bullets out to 500 yards which is really a heck of a long poke anyways. It will lose to the heavy bullets past that and drift more up to 500 too but I think it will provide adequate splat factor and shoot pretty freakin flat up to then. Really like my gn now but would like a .22-250 AI built specifically for that .290 BC 53vmax.

I had a few 1:14 22-250, they shot the Nosler 55gr Bal Tip or hornady 55gr VERY well. This combo is a great long range coyote getter!

Are there any manufacturers currently making .22-250's with a 1 in 9 twist, or would this have to be a custom job?

I'm asking because all I can find are 1 in 12 or 14.

savage did for a time but I think they are no longer making fast twist 22-250's BUT that is easily remedied.

7 twist 22-250 hurling 90gr VLD's at 3100/3200fps. Been there, done that. run the numbers and you be having some fun all the way out to a mile.

Bore life sucks but so does a 7 or 30cal kaboomer.

If you want a low recoiling zapper, this does it.

a 22-250 will give you more margin for error with range guessing between 300 and 400 yards. Ive owned a few '250s and a few more 223's than that, really like the 9 twist 223 as a varmint/target plinker with a 75gr Amax. Beyond 450 yards the wind drift isn't as bad and that makes hitting easier
