1.4 MOA Standing Tripod.

Here are three 5-shot groups and I don’t practice this stuff specifically. I should since I do shoot PRS, but I never get to it. Lol!

I put hardly any pressure into the rifle. You don’t need to.
 
I normally refrain from answering on these kinds of posts cause they turn into weird dumpster fires but I'll bite...

You don't grip anything "hard AF" in really any kind of precision rifle shooting. Definitely not for tripod shooting. Whether you're shooting off a bag on top of the apex of the tripod or clipped into a ball head of some type you exert the same rearward pressure (with your firing hand) that you do when shooting prone off a bipod (or in any supported position, really). If you're using a bag you'll also pinch the forend of the stock to the bag, if clipped in you'll exert slight forward pressure on the ballhead (basically just extending your support arm straight ahead) while remaining square to the rifle. There are tons of ressources and videos out there properly demonstrating the correct techniques. Shooting paper drills at 100yds with a tripod standing, kneeling and seated as well as using the tripod for rear support are a great way of training for field matches. I've got years of binders full of targets like what was posted above. With some work, you can shoot pretty damn close to as well as prone although it's more important to concentrate on how close to POA the POI ends vs group size. Targets like the RifleKraft targets (concentric diamonds) are great for tracking that.

This is what I’ve been working towards. Making sure my zero stays zero when moving between positions. Bottom target is sitting, middle is kneeling and top is standing from a rest. It didn’t stay this good as the day went on. Lol. IMG_6468.jpeg

i call bull####....

if those are 6" circles, those 3 would land roughly 3" plus or minus assuming youre aiming at the center of each target.

so not only do you have no POI shift while shooting in 3 different positions, with zero knowledge of proper fundamentals, youre shooting sub half moa.

ive seen alot internet claims, but this one takes the cake

I think he means he’s sitting and shooting from a tripod for all three shots.

I can’t imagine why somebody would post claims like this on the internet if they weren’t true. What kind of prize are they winning for making such claims? For myslef, I think it’s totally doable. The picture I posted above is probably 1/2 moa from three different positions holding centre. My next bunch of shots weren’t as good, lol, but I shared the good stuff like most others. Maybe it took 708fan 12 tries, but definitely doable, especially if you’re only practicing one technique and position.

These were my next shots from 100 yards. I went for a 5 shot group like he did, but I failed hard and lost all of my stability for some reason. I fall apart if I’m hungry or fatigued.

The mental component in this is huge. That is one area many people don’t think of training. I enjoy learning and improving, so I enter competitions as an area where I can really focus on testing my mental game.

I don’t know how many matches I’ve been to on 3-5 hours sleep. 🤣

Thinking about it, the pic I posted above has been the only groups I’ve ever tried from a tripod. I have printed Kraft targets that rugbydave mentioned and I’ll use my remaining 150 rounds of .223 on that. Tripod from different positions to confirm my POI. 👍

I have a centrefire PRS match in May and this will be good practice at different heights.
