The Bushnell Elite Tactical 1-6.5 is a good option too, not as expensive as a 1-8 but still reasonable quality and a good range of magnification.

I ran a Bushnell Elite Tactical 1-6.5 FFP BTR1 reticle for a couple years on my AR. It is a very nice scope, good glass and a decent reticle compromise for short and long range shooting. My main complaint was the weight (34oz with P.E.P.R mount IIRC) it added to my rifle. The one issue I did have with the reticle is, it is supposed to be zero'd at 100y if you want to use the graduations in the reticle. Personally I prefer a 50y zero.
I mostly shoot 50y, occasionally out to 100y, so I removed it, and use an Aimpoint PRO now.
The POI with a 100 yard zero is nearly identical and not worth worrying about. The PEPR mount is a fat pig at over a half pound, use a lightweight mount like those from AERO or ADM to shave the ounces.
Zero at 50y gives you POI within 1.5" of POA, from 25y out to 225y. Zero at 100, and you only get from 35y to 165y to stay within 1.5 inches. Personally, I like 50ys especially with a red dot.
The PEPR is heavy, but the Bushnell scope is 23oz alone. Too much weight for a 50y gun.
