Guys, remember, talking about the accuracy of "semi-automatic" handguns is meaningless, unless you also mention the type.
The S&W 52 is a bullseye pistol, 1inch group is not a big deal. I shoot a Pardini .32S&W semi-auto, I can get sub-1 inch groups without too much of a problem, with match ammo.
When you start talking about out-of-the-box duty guns, like a CZ, or a Sig, etc - the level of accuracy/consistency tends to be much lower, since that's not what those guns are designed to do, they have other priorities.
If I need to hit a coin at 25m I'll take my Pardini; if I need to shoot an IPSC match, I have my CZ SP01
So, yes, an inch group at that distance is definitely doable with a "semi-automatic" pistol, if you don't specify any other restrictions on it.
