#1 Bear Baiting Trick

I used to buy a caramel flavor that was used on dairy feed as a scent and flavor enhancer. It was very sweet smelling and a few oz would do a lot of oats. I don't know where or if it still available but it worked very good.

Just go to the Bulk Barn stores ,its $2.99 for a small bottle and you only need about 1/4 to a spray bottle. Don't head to the Gravenhurst store tho as I bought it all the other day ;)

some great ideas boyz,

I've never in all the years of baiting did a Honey burn, can some of you guys that have had it work explain how you do it and what do you use ?

I hate to burn down the woods

i know there is probably many other methods, but we fill a tin can about 1/2 full of honey. hang it from a tree over the bait with wire and lots of room so its not near any branches. hold a propane torch under the can until it starts to buble and smoke (it wont take long), when it starts to smoke heavily remove the heat and it'll stay smoking for quite a while. like i posted earlier don't hold the torch on the can for to long or it will burst into flames. common sense i know but i witnessed a friend who is lacking common sense do this.

best way for a honey burn

you need a few things

Big coffee can
Small soup can
wire
candle

Poke 4 holes in the bottom of the big coffee can about 2-3" from the bottom so the wire can be placed threw the holes so it makes an X in the bottom of the can, set the candle underneith the wire X, light it, place soup can half full of honey in coffee can on top of the wire. Let her heat up, 10-15 minutes you will have smoke from the can.

Went out last night for opening day. Tried the popcorn trick, 2 bears in within 2.5 hours, shot the bigger one with the bow. Not a monster, but its my first bear so I'm happy.:D:D
