10/22 accuracy

The chambers are not the tightest on the 10/22. They were designed to shoot every brand of 22lr out there. You may find your gun likes one brand over another. I myself rechambered my 10/22 and now it's awsome out to 125yrds if I do my part. Their triggers are also pretty heavy. If it is the older steel type internal parts they can be reworked. If it is a fairly new model then you most likely have to replace the trigger parts to get a smoother, lighter trigger.

Get the trigger done. It's a must for the 10/22. The stock and even the "target" trigger are too heavy.

When you try it out with a scope. Do an ammo test. Try all the usual brands, and also try a few match grade such as Lapua Superclub. You might be pleasantly surprised. If nothing else it'll tell you what the rifle is capable of. when you go back to iron sights at least you'll know if it's the rifle/ammo and what they are capable of accuracy wise.

Definitely do an ammo test. 90% of the time when someone has accuracy issues with the 10/22, it's because they bought the cheapest ammo they can find, and didn't test any other brands for accuracy. I did a test with my 10/22 a while ago, and posted the results... I'll see if I can find the thread for you guys.

Edit: found the thread here
