Noob question here... Is there any reason why I cannot take my 10/22 in and have the barrel chopped back a few inches? Are there any legal requirements I need to know of?

Thanks,

You cannot cut the barrel below 18". It it is already shorter than 18", you cannot cut it at all. As the barrel on the 10/22 carbine is 18.5", don't touch it. You can replace the factory barrel with a shorter barrel, provided it was manufactured by a licensed manufacturer.

Where is a good place to pick up a shorter barrel?

Go with Dlask... their 12.5" barrels are nice, they have both bull and sporter taper barrels... very nice finish and very accurate.

You can install it yourself if you can field strip the rifle and turn a wrench the right way.

Hoytcanon, you never miss a chance to show those off, do ya? I'm not complaining, other than everytime I see one of those, I get a little closer to building one for myself. They sure are pretty!
