10/22 barrel suggestions? Bought one! Review/pics in first post.

I have a couple of Dlask barrels with sporter chambers and both are very accurate. I have a 12.5" and 16.5". I also have a Kidd match SS 20" which is more accurate but has a tighter chamber. Shoot everything with the Dlask or slightly more accurate with the Kidd but more expensive ammo> All depends on your use and expectations for ur gun!

Hi, I'm in Winnipeg. Where were you able to purchase barrel and did you do install yourself? Was headspacing a concern? This is in response to the Green Mountain 28" barrel.

Flee....A place called Bits of Pieces in BC. Good outfit to deal with. Just swapped in and no concerns about headspacing. Lots of vids on youtube also to walk you thru it. Not a hard task even for a novice. I like it so much I would do it again.

Mostly just plinking and maybe some gophers.

Then the Dlask barrels will serve you well! If you want light weight they are doing wrapped CF barrels which are way lighter than the steel versions.Good luck

A 10/22 is amazing out of box. How could it ever be improved.

Obviously ur joking or haven't shot very much! Its a great design that is massed produced to the quality standards of Savage or less. There are literally millions upon millions because of the design.Had the pleasure to speak to William Ruger before his passing. An incredibly nice and incredibly smart individual. Probably rolling in the grave like John Mosses but its all about profits so FXCK quality. Sales are king and we put up with it. If your serious your accuracy node is obviously much lower than the general populace of 22 shooters. You should easily hit a quarter at 50 yards with 10 shots!!! But you could have gotten the Golden Child so to speak.

This was helpful as I plan my next 22. For those of you with the Dlask barrels in either 12.5 or 16.5, can you tell me more about how they shot? Compared to anything else you've tried? I've pretty much decided to go with a TUF-22, but the question remains whether I get a complete rifle and stick with the Dlask barrel or build on one of their receivers and go with a McGowen or another option.

I have a gun that (longstud) built. Its dlask receiver and 16.5 sporter barrel. It shoots great. Not a single problem. It shoots cci standard velocity well, very well. Extremely happy with it

How do you find the CCI standard velocity compared to other more expensive .22? I've got some of it on the way.

That's positive. Thanks. I'm told Dlask uses green mountain blanks, and I read that they're pretty good for the price but not up to the same standard as KIDD and others. Kind of between a barrel on a factory rifle and a top tier match barrel. Does my research line up with your experience?

I've found CCI SV to be the best of the cheap options in most of my 22s. Eley, SK, etc, are better and really start to show it at long distance, but that's sort of an "on average" statement as 22s seem to be quite picky with which ammo they like best.

For the budget ammo CCI SV shoots quite well in my 18” Volquartsen, 3/4” 10 shot groups are common but every other group I end up with a flyer that opens up the group to over 1”. For some reason my rifle shoots Remington yellow jackets just as good as the Elley and SK, right at 5/8”, 10 shot groups at 50 yards.

Did you have any difficulty removing your 12” Dlask barrel?

It’s funny some people say yellow jackets are dirty horrible ammo . But I love them and get close to the same results as you

Thanks.

It was pretty snug in the receiver. I had to hold the barrel in soft jaws in my vice and tap on the lug at the front of the receiver to separate them.

CCI SV compared to sk elley federal gmm. 0-100 yards not worth the money (te me) for hitting little steel targets. At 200 you see it open up almost twice as big as the good stuff. Like 6" cci and 3.5" elley. Mine loves elley sport and elley contact. 5 shot moa with good stuff. On a windy day I hit two clay pigeons at 250 (20 kph winds)
