10/22 Custom Receivers

If you are talking about this one, it is the new model of integral picatinny receiver.

If you don't like it, feel free to blame Brocolt (send him hate-mail or something).

LOL --- Hahahahahahaha!!!!! I've been away from this forum for a month or more, So this is the first I'm seeing this. PS. if you like this frame thank Brocolt & Joe from Dlask.

I personally like the second & third model i.e. both this & the flat top non railed model are very nice.
Joe if you are reading this Great job! I have been telling people that you are the only one in Canada who is known to be making custom 10/22 frames and to support your company. thanks for your hard work.

I'm glad you like it.
A lot of people said this design is needed
for the receivers family to be complete.

As I said before,
personally, I don't care much about shape as long as
it is strong and rigid
(but here I have to admit that this particular shape is very ###y).

It took so long to design this latest receiver because
they had to make sure the strength and rigidity are not compromised.

There are a few small additions to that flat top receiver I would love to see in order to make it a better long range platform.

-Threaded barrel channel (can also take slip fit barrels)
-Integrated rear tang (so that the barrel can be free floated)
-Canted extended scope mounts with alignment dowel pins (20 and 30 MOA)

This company makes a receiver with some of those those features:

A rounded tang that goes the height of the receiver would be better though. Then the stock could just be inletted quickly for it with an end-mill.

I just saw a Dlask receiver up close and I am really impressed. This will be my next 10/22 receiver.

Dr. Lector/Brocolt, any chance the internal dimensions of the receiver can be tweaked a few thou NARROWER?

What I don't like about the Ruger receiver is the huge amount of slop/clearance. That poor bolt simply rattles around inside. The Dlask receiver looked to be much tighter but I wonder if it can be sized to fit a particular bolt.

Or tapered so a bolt would wedge fit inside upon closing. That would sure be nice and solve one of this actions biggest flaws.

A rear lug would be the cat's meow too but I am having enough success with barrel bedding to not make this a big issue.

But bolt lock up is a biggie.

Love to hear your thoughts.

Barrel bedding does take the droop out of the barrel, however I am finding that you also get a POI shift that is noticeable at 100 yards each time you remove the action for cleaning. Although, that may go away with a threaded barrel. I really hate that V-block mounting system...

I had a Shilen match barrel and their shank was a schnick oversized so with a bit of TLC, I got a very tight fit in my Ruger receiver.

the V block now only served to keep a from coming out of b. No longer load bearing which removes that bugaboo in the design.

The Promag target stock it was housed in is also super tight fit around that front mounting lug and barrel. I didn't bother bedding it as it was a squeeze fit - very surprised at this quality. The barrel was very well supported so no droop that I could tell.

I took it apart a few times but it went back in and held zero.

What it did need was the rear bedded, but that is pretty much the norm for every stock out there that doesn't encapsulate the receiver.

The rear lugged receiver you had a pic would be the cat's meow and be a better solution then a threaded barrel. I really don't think that barrel moves around all that much in the receiver.

Certainly couldn't with that Shilen.

For cleaning, I am a heretic and clean from the muzzle end

Droop really isn't something you're going to notice until you get out further. At short range, it isn't really going to bother you unless its really extreme. At long range, you may run out of scope travel even with a 20 MOA rail at 200 or 300 yards. I'm seeing quite a bit of that... its a pain because its discouraging quite a few people from trying long range rimfire.

An adjustable V-block might be something Dlask should look at making too. Simple part to make... Or, a thicker one like the one TacSol does may be more robust. Maybe a set of 3 with different thicknesses.

I had to shave a bit off my Ruger bolt near the extractor to get it into my Dlask SAR-22 receiver, even then, it’s a tight fit and I have push the firing pin forward through the rear hole to get it to drop into place.

I'm also ordering the following:

Volquartsen Ruger 10/22 TG2000 trigger group
Hogue Ruger 10/22 Overmold Stock - Heavy Barrel
Volquartsen Ruger 10/22 Bolt Recoil Buffer
Volquartsen CNC Machined Bolt Assembly
Volquartsen 10/22 V-Locking Block

Is there anything I'm missing?
