after looking at some US builders making some very nice 10/22 frames. Any Canadian builders ever think of taking on this project. Seen some very nice ideas coming from KID, TacSol, NoDak. just to name a few. I personally don't think Ruger is making a quality frame anymore and would spring for at least 1 good 10/22 receiver made in Canada. like the idea of the cleaning hole in the rear of the frame & the built on rail.

if you want to you can drill a factory reciever for the cleaning hole.

that being said, i know a guy who imported one of the 80% razor recievers and finished it himself. don't know quite how it turned out but it sounds really good. look into them.

No kidding, every couple months it gets talked about, as well as my request for a REAL Stainless Steel receiver. And not that "stainless" paint that flakes off.
Love the rifle, the handling, the various configurations, all the aftermarket gear... But the receivers are really a piece of shat. Even after I spent a day stripping the paint off and polishing it to mirror finish. You just get to see how soft the aluminum really is.

This is why I started this post, to get the interest of a builder to consider a build of this project or even a importer would think there might be a demand for this item, I'm not happy with the product Ruger is putting out there on the market these days it does look like crap. Now I do like the 10/22 and it's a fun gun to build on and shoot but the frames in my opinion are the weak link, I hate to put a bunch of nice parts on a junk frame. might be a project for Kodiak Outpost to jump on or another frame builder here.

KID Classic Receiver $200 usd
NoDak Spud LLC NDS-22 receiver $130 shipped usd
Tactical Solutions’ X-Ring receiver $475 usd ( over priced )

If someone was to make receivers what about them would you like to see different. Currently 10/22 receivers are made from a low-quality aluminum casting that reduces the costs of production.
CNC machined? 7075 allumimum? Special features?

personally I would be fine with aluminum as long as the quality was up there at least higher grade aluminum and finished better then today's Ruger standards would like to see rail intergraded into the frame & rear cleaning access hole maybe Anodized finish.

both KID & NoDak are using 6061 T6 on there frames no idea what Ruger is doing.

As a matter of fact, in the world of firearms,
Ruger is the master of the cast parts.
In North America, there is no other firearm manufacturer
that even gets close to their level when it comes to die-casting.

Even outside of the area of firearms manufacturing,
if you think to compete with Ruger in cast aluminum or steel,
you would have to employ the expertise of one of the best manufacturers
of auto parts or something like that.

Yes, the tolerances used in the 10/22 action are very large,
the play/clearance is HUGE (on purpose), the finish is lousy.
Ruger barrels suck sh!t (on any of their product).
However, remember that Ruger sells the 10/22 with $159 bulk price.

I believe that is more than a receiver
(action = receiver + proprietary bolt + recoil springs + spring guides).

This would be an interesting project for a Canadian manufacturer but probably not a very lucrative one unless done in massive quantity with the intent to export.

You can get the CAD program for the 10/22 receiver on-line if you look hard enough.

Producing them legally, in quantity, could only be done by a handful of manufacturers in Canada though. DLASK being one of them.

I'd like to see a 10/22 receiver without the trigger group pin holes.;)

Aluminum billet, annodized, integral picatinny, cleaning hole.
What else?

Another one is dedicated receiver for threaded barrel.
That would be a completely different project.
It also needs a second hold down for truly free-floating the barrel.

You want a bullpup, don't you? (what else is new?).
A receiver without TG pin holes is not a problem.
The bullpup may be a future project (but I'm not sure).

threaded barrel option, would be a problem for most of us, as there is a shortage of quality 10/22 barrels in Canada already. I would opt out and take a V-block

Nine: there is a source for trigger groups in MB.
