10/22 extraction issue FTE. = BC mags suck

Zeus those butler creek steel lips are not junk lol. As you have learned the hard way, your rifle was dirty and had some burrs from the machining/building process and wasn't cleaned properly before your first outing. Once you took it apart with some care you were able to figure out your issue. A bit of trouble shooting and your in business. Personally I like to shoot some stingers for the first 50-100 rounds and then go to mini-mags for several hundred and then you'll be able to use bulk stuff, try some Blazers.

As for your BC mags, load em up and let em sit for week. That's all I did with mine and I haven't had any problems in 7-8 years. Those springs need to find there sweet spot. Stick with it, guns only get better with age.

Too late i sold them all. I always keep my mags loaded and they have been for several weeks. I have put over 500 rounds thro and it has been a painful 500 rounds as every 2-3 shots is a stovepipe. I have accepted that my gun does not like BC mags. Im going to try my friends battledyne mag but ive heard bad things about them too but im willing to try any brand. For now 4 factory 10 rounders will do. Zero failures in 100 rounds so far steady shooting and fast as I can pull the trigger.

A few years ago I realized and replaced for him that my brothers 10/22 had no extractor at all. he was feeding it a steady diet of Stingers. Funny thing was he didn`t even notice it was gone!! it worked fine without.

My "go-to" 10-22 extractor doesn't work either. If there's a live one in the chamber I have to shoot it to get it out (or use a knife). 10-15k a year go through it on the gopher patch and it very rarely has a "jam". Also, I'm so used to it that if it doesn't cycle properly I know it right away.

There's also a write up about filing down the inside of the feed lips, not sure if it's on CGN but I know they have it on rimfire central with detailed instructions and pictures.

Ya stingers pack enough punch I don't think you'd need an extractor.

Zeus keep us posted with those battldynes I'm curious.
