10/22 photos - post 'em up here!

10/22 out in the rain with new glass.

Im a little paranoid about shooting my rifles in the rain. Do you have to do any special cleaning procedures after? Or do you just let it dry out before storing it again? I would love to be able to shoot in the rain but I am paranoid of ruining my rifles

All I do is tear the rifle down completely and make sure every part is clean and dry then put a very thin layer of gun oil in the barrel. As a secondary measure I keep silica gel packets in the storage cabinet with it, I also keep silica gel packets in my rifle transportation case and ammunition case.

Awesome thanks for the tips!

camo

Not my cup of tea for a single reason : camo tape. If you really want camo, do a nice paintjob. you can't pimp your gun with tape. it just makes it look cheap IMO.

I disagree for a couple reasons.

Camo tape actually does a Better job at actually camo'ing the gun as it is irregular, absorbs light and has texture.....all contirbute to disguising artificial shapes and materials.
Secondly camo tape can be applied quickly and repeatedly to match the actual conditions you are camo'ing for.

A good camo paint job is certainly kewl looking and obviously stays put and holds up. But it isn't necessarily better than camo tape or other improvised approaches.

Military operators usecamo tape/cloth and other improvised approaches routinely to make the difference between life and death concealment.

Don't get me wrong....I have a Rem700 done up in urban camo black/white/grey that is very effective in the concrete/black/white enviroment AND it looks GREAT aesthetically. But the coyotes likely laugh out loud at it when I'm prone in the corn fileds! lol

I had some more tinkering time (wife and kids all cutting zzzzz's) so I decided to dress the Ruger up for the night... bring on the zombies... or killer raccoons... or zombies with killer raccoons in their mouths... (thanks Homer)...

Why, are they made of sugar?:D

Just make sure you wipe them down with an oily rag after and leave no surface untouched. Even light surface rust is no problem to get rid of if you miss a spot and notice it later.

A few more goodies:
HK 416 irons
1/2" riser for TRS-25
Fenix TK12 with Vltor QD mount
Chamfered bolt
The stock is in its shortest position, I JB welded a piece of 3/8" key stock in the buttstock channel. LOP is 12.5" overall length is 27.5". overall awesome is cranked up to 11, then the knob fell off.
Still undecided on a new pistol grip. Either Tapco or Fab...probly Fab. Oh and the best part? Fricken muzzle flash! :D

Where did you get the cheek riser?

Nothing special really. Marauder kit, only other upgrade is the extended bolt release with the little skull on it and the magpul AFG. I needed to do SOMETHING to this gun... I use mostly Steel Lips mags but like to show off with the stock mag and sleeve. Only other thing id like to do someday is add a regular sliding stock... this one is just a bit short.
