IT'S ALIVE!!

Congrats on owning the worlds most hideous 10/22 lol.

Dammit, where are people getting these awesome mags (TacInc) for their 10/22s? Granted, the steel lipped BCs I have aren't as bad as I thought they would be, but I'd love more options for high cap 10/22 mags.

Ryan500,
This was a mockup to see if it was feasable. The pics. lower in my original post show the direction I decided to take. You've heard the expression "A face only a mother could love"? I had a REAL hard time likeing this franken-Ruger let-alone loving it!! LOL

New DAR22

I just picked this up yesterday from Dlask Arms at the Chilliwack HACSBC gun show. It was a custom order: 12.5" barrel, Hogue stock, Dlask trigger job and hold open. I can't wait to shoot it which is why it is wearing a Strike Fire, temporarily borrowed from my M&P 15-22, until I get my rings to mount the Leupold 2-7 x 28.

Stock? Do you mean the M4 style collapsible one? It's the factory ruger one that came with the SR-22? I'm ordering in a magpul CTR one though. The sling end on the factory stock gets annoying sometimes.

oops I didnt know the SR-22 was factory. I want one!

Quick and dirty pic of my old 10/22 with Shepherd scope, VQ carbon fibre barrel & Butler Creek stock w/bipod, and 10/17 with a Leupold scope, heavy bolt handle and ER Shaw barrel.

When I first got my Butler Creek mags I thought I would have problems with them. The first time I put them into my 10/22, the action would stick and not want to close (Before I had fired any rounds from them that is.) . I thought they would not work well. But 500 rounds later and they haven't caused me a single problem.

I bought a BC Steel Lips from the local shop and the steel lips were too tall on it. The bolt would hit the lip and get stuck every time. You could eventually see the ding in the steel lip where the bolt was hitting it and it was clear the lip was too tall. I don't think this would have "fixed itself" so I took it back and returned it for another one and it was perfectly fine. Apparently it was a fairly common issue. I heard some people say they had hit the top of the lip with a grinder to take off a millimeter or two. I don't know if they had a bad batch or what. But like I said the store simply replaced it and the new one is perfect.

Here is my SR-22 so far. I wanted to get the DLASK Rails (at least the full length top) but I found this one made by TufForce in the local shop and it was half the price of the DLASK or less than half after shipping on the DLASK. That said the DLASK is still a decent price for what it is and it fits the gun much nicer. This one as you can see leaves a small gap between the front and rear rail and it also sticks up a millimeter or so higher than the rear rail. It also has a groove running down the middle that they say is to still see down the iron sights... witch makes no sense on the SR-22 so they clearly just use the same design weaver style rails for all and honestly I don't like the look of them much. Overall it's kinda lame but the finish is decent and it was only $24.99 in store! The bottom rail is from the same company and both rails came with the rubber guards (the top came with 3) the store also had a Ruger branded side/bottom short rail similar to the TufForce I got but the finish was actually pealing off of it! The TufForce short rail was $14.99, cheaper than the Ruger branded rail and has no imperfections in the finish and once again came with the rubber guard. I have a cheap Tasco RedDot on there now but I have NCStar SR-15 Handle rear sight and flip up front sight on the way. I ordered those from Frontier Firearms on Saturday and they shipped out on Tuesday. So as soon as they come in the RedDot goes.

How do you like the SR22.. im debating getting a stock 1022 and using the archangel kit or just getting the sr22. Is there any problems I should know about in advance???
