I recently upgraded my 10/22 TD, i thought i'd share. I wanted to build something compact and since its takedown, i wanted the rail mounted to the barrel rather than receiver. I figured it would guaranty return to zero after every take down. I ended up getting an Adaptive Tactical Tac Hammer 9" barrel with cantilever mount and magpul backpacker stock. Then mounted a 1-4 leupold scope. I really loved that set up, it was great in every way, boringly accurate, reliable, and returned to dead zero every time. The only thing bothered me is that when the barrel is taken down and fitted in to the stock (backpacker feature) the rail and the scope would significantly stick out at the back of the stock. That would bring folded OAL to almost the same length as assembled.
which kinda ruined the compact takedown idea.
So then i decided to reverse the rail towards the front and move the scope to "scout" position. Ofcourse i needed a different scope, something with longer eye relief, so i picked up this Bushnell 2x - 6x pistol scope. Its pretty good, made in japan, glass is surprisingly clear and even the eye relief works well. Now when its folded it looks much better, and fits well in any of my backpacks. Eventually i will get a nicer scout scope. For now just have to wait for this quarantine to end so everything can go back to normal, and i can test the gun out.
