10/22 Tips & Tricks

take her apart and clean it up if you have never taken it apart just undo the screw at the bottom to take the action and barrel out then there are two pins to take out the triger assembly that should be as far as you need to go get some spray cleaner in there and clean it up real good with cue tips and tooth picks and try again if that doesnt work you will need to realy take it apart and clean all the components seperately there are realy good video tutorials on you tube that you can use to take it apart and help put it back together
most of the time rimfire problems are a weird piece of dirt stuck somewhere but if its clean then it might be springs or worn parts you can order new firing pins springs all that stuff online
good luck hope it helps

Here is a blueprint of the 10/22 reciever i found while browsing the inter webs, not sure if it will be useful at all, i don't own one, but ill post it either way.

Hey guys,

I tried to read the while thread, so i apologize if this has been covered already. I just installed an Archangel Nomad kit on my 10/22, but now im having a few issues that I cant seems to figure out. 1) the safety switch was working fine (checked it a few times during installation, but now it doesnt snap all the way to safe. stops at about the edge of the red ring. At all positions that i can place the safety, the rifle will dry fire. 2) the kit comes with an extended mag release and auto bolt release. I installed the parts and double checked their orientations from videos on Youtube before completing the install. Now when i pull the charging handle back the bolt sticks open and no manner of fooling with the release helps. The only want i managed to get the bolt to drop was to use an allen key and press back on the ejector. Before the installation, this worked fine.

Any thoughts?

safety will only fully engage when the bolt is cocked.

but it sounds like the stock is causing you grief as well.

try the receiver out of the stock and see if it functions.

hey guys,

I'm having problems with spent shells not ejecting properly. When I'm using the ten round mag, its roughly 2 rounds out of the ten won't eject and get trapped inside the reciever of pinched by the bolt after its loaded the next round, but when I'm using the plactic 25rnd. butler creek mag, it's essentially every shot. Any ideas, ammo? mag it self? extractor?......I don't know, but fairly dissapointing for the first time out to the range with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Dan

Dan, did you ever find out what your trouble was by chance? I'm having the identical issue it seems. BC steel lip 25rd... almost every round, 10rd Stk better, most ammo won't cycle (seems best so far is American Eagle, I'm thinking new Ejector but I've FtF issues equally as bad.

The zip tie fix did wonders! I found its perfect for the Butler Creek mags, but at the sacrifice of the stk 10rnd Ruger. But if I had to I could pull out the zip ties to use it. Very good trick thanks people!

Just polished my trigger group on a new (300-400 rounds) 50th anniversary model. Noticeable difference just dry firing and cycling the bolt manually. Can't wait to get it to the range. I've been getting a stovepipe almost every mag, so hopefully this helps. Between a crappy local ammo supply and the child weather, it's hard to tell what might be causing it.

I'll try to hold off on doing the bolt chamfering so if it's fixed I have a better chance at knowing what did it... But idle hands...

Is the Timney trigger worth the money? The rifle I have is bone stock and the kids and the fiancé use it for the most part. Tiny hands and limited hand strength are the biggest issues. They all love shooting it but I want to make it more enjoyable. Extended mag release, auto bolt release and a better bolt hold open are all things that I know would make it more enjoyable for them. A lighter trigger will make it so they can be more accurate. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks
Troc

maybe after tens of thousands of rounds. they are fairly cheap anyways so even if you have to not a big deal. honestly i have never heard of someone needing to replace one unless they went through bricks daily.

i dont have an issue with mine fitting in the mag well. i do have issues with it locking in if the bolt is closed. no issues at all if it insert it with the bolt held open.

i dont put in more than 20. i dont bother top loading the extra 5 rounds. and the gun i use them in is a full dlask build. perhaps the tolerances are a bit tighter so it doesnt lock in with the bolt closed.
