Hello all,

Is it possible to find any parts for 10/22 in Canada at all ? Went to the range with my son yesterday and realized that stock trigger is too hard for him (accutrigger from Savage was not a problem). Thought that I will just get VQ hammer. I thought I would not have any problem finding it for $35-$40. No luck ! Anybody knows where I can find one ? May be there is another option to lighten the trigger ? I am not going to spend $300+ on Kidds trigger though. Looking for cost up to $45.

This is indeed interesting. I am just a concerned that without knowing how far to go I will get things worse and not better. I am not a gunsmith... Is it possible to do the polishing by somebody who is not trained to do it !
 
Sure it is - how do you think people become gunsmiths!?

It may look frightening, but if you go easy and check fits often there's little risk of screwing anything up.
With exception of the hammer/sear connection, which is geometry specific.
Shining up the parts noted in link will get you part of the way there, maybe as far as you need to go.
Check youtube for howtos.

So if someone was willing to tackle thie mods to the sear and hammer mentioned in these videos and excercising all of the noted precautions, you would be mimicking the Volquartsen and Kidd trigger replacements?

I have a couple 10/22s on the way, one of which is the takedown and think I will be tackling the mods myself using these videos.
 
It's not that simple, but saying you're mimicing the results is a little more accurate.
The hammer bosses/shims, and other stuff like adjustable sears isn't gonna come from home efforts.
Note the first link to rimfirecentral the guy notes his stock part trigger jobs can run 9hrs in effort, so it ain't free.
Some folks prefer to drop the dime and a new trigger bit in for fast, tried results.
I'm just sayin you can do it yourself and learn about your gun in the process.
 
Well... If it takes 9 hours for a guy who knows what he is doing it will take me at least twice as much or more plus the cost of supplies. I would still prefer to drop in a $40 hammer and be done in a few hours. Learning part is good, but I guess I will have my share of learning just by replacing stock.
 
Can someone clarify how the $100 "limit" works when ordering from Brownells, does the total cost of the entire order have to stay under $100? Or is it that no single item can exceed the cost of $100, but the total can exceed $100?

$100 item cost. With shipping it can come to over $100 and still be OK. Boyd's, for instance, prices many of their stocks for $99.
 
Ordered one. Anybody can share a link that they used with instructions how to replace a hummer ? I know there is google, but it has too many results and hard to say which one is correct/good to use. So, I am interested in "proven" information that was actually used.
 
Dude, scroll down/up (as your settings dictate).
Videos apply, even if you're not doing the polishing.

Parts likely come with instructions or a link to them...

Thanks. I did watch the video and a few other videos as well. I wanted to see what somebody from the forum actually used. As I mentioned, I can use google.
 
Wolverine sells a complete VQ dress up kit. i believe it is around 160 dollars. I ordered a timney drop in trigger from my local gunsmith. 2 months and still not here. The suspense is killing me!
