10/22 ?

Me either, I did a trigger job myself, got it to 1 1/2lbs of clean crisp pull. Did the bolt hold open mod, added a buffer and thats it . Its a neat rifle to play around with.

I enjoy tinkering and building project guns.

For me the 10/22 is perfect. Lots of aftermarket parts and mods you can do.

Sure it's easy to spend double or triple what the gun cost on parts... That is all part of the fun, building a gun exactly how you want it.

Right now I'm starting two new 10/22 builds, they're addictive.

I bought my 10-22, back in 1984, it had a terrible trigger, and poor open sights, it was however very reliable, never jams, i upgraded it a Hornet trigger group, Tech aperture sights, and Hogue stock, it is a huge improvement over the factory 10-22

I've got 3 looking for a 4rth. Yes, they are small, light, quick to put on target, quick to fire - all good things. you want something more meaty than you want to get one with bull barrel than you bench rest for accuracy shooting - see, that is just it - the 10/22 can be just about anything you need a .22LR semi to be. I'm sure squirrels rue the day it came to market.

Sometimes when I’m out in the gopher patch I like to put on a fedora, light up a Cuban cigar and kill them filthy animals.

Back in the '70's I picked one up brand new for about $125 as I recall. It was a readily available semi which did not jam in -30 or colder weather after hours on the back of a snowmobile. Accuracy is what it was for open sights, never changed a thing on it for decades. Sold it for little, wish I had kept it - the wood stocks were quite decent back in those days...come to think of it - there was just the single model, not even a deluxe stock was available in the early days from what I could find in our area. So bought an aftermarket folding stock, much easier to pack, and one of those 50 shot rotary clips - that was fun!

Their quality control recently has been a little suspect. They shipped out a batch with a poorly drilled receiver, the barrel was at a 11 degree lean to the right ( left?) When reported the company says it was still within ( selling) tolerances. I just went with VQ instead of a rebuild, cheaper and less headaches

Shot good yet needs twice its cost in upgrades? What was wearing down? Ive had mine for almost 5 years and went through 2 cases and a bit of mini mags last year alone, think im $130ish into it with a power custom hammer and a hogue stock, factory barrel shoots 1" @50 yards with a crisp 3.75#lb trigger. No need to double the cost or pour money into it. The factory triggers are pretty bad though, granted much better than any comparable semi auto 22lr.

I didn't do anything to the 10-22 but after 4k rounds things inside were starting to wear out - didn't seem 'tight' so to speak - it did shoot well - it was the sporter model with the pencil barrel. I could have changed the trigger mechasim - upgraded the hammer/firing pin/ springs etc. But took a look at everything and decided not too - am sure the gun is out there shooting still today. I am not the type of person to buy a relatively inexpensive gun and then spend to dress it up - you will never recover what you put out

this being said - i keep all my rifles stock "except 1" where I upgraded the trigger on my Axis which has since been sold

I have a suggestion.
Except the 10/22, I've never met a gun I didn't like:)

Or...

.."I've never met a gun I didn't like.............except for that one day I decided to go buy a 10/22 and it miserably failed my expectations, so I went home very sad...but with a new AR mag instead. And stopped and grabbed some beef jerky". lol

Damn... I was gonna say I loved mine and tought about getting a second one. Now I need a third one to do just this !

Modded mine with the Tactical Solution Barrel and the Magpul Hunter stock and it's now one of my fav shooter. I now put a magnified scope on it and hit consistently my spinner plates at 100+ yards

My 10/22 is a gun I really wanted to like, but just don't. It's "meh" in almost every regard.

There are other semis out there that are less expensive, more accurate, just as reliable. The 10/22 level of fandom is completely out of proportion to what the gun actually is.

Maybe I got a good one but Im pretty happy with mine. Its as accurate as I want for plinking, very reliable with the factory magazine, and was a good price when I bought it 4 years ago ($300 for the sporter grade).

Ive got zero complaints besides the government and the ridiculous 10+ mag debacle.
