10,500 Canadian Brownings headed to Ukraine

The browning hi-power maybe a little obsolescence but it is by no means obsolete. Most modern designs are basically a modernized version of it (all based around the same locking mechanism).

There was war stocks, not to mention every units stock was different. I have seen clapped out ones and I have seem pretty tight ones all in the same vault.

It might not be the best pistol in the world but it is certainly a lot better than no pistol and I am sure many Ukrainians will be happy to have them as they are a fairly reliable design.

The way I heard it, most (if not all) of the pistols were discovered in a warehouse and are in unissued and therefore, unfired condition. Bear in mind that Inglis made around 152,000 pistols! Is it truly inconceivable that 11,000 were warehoused and forgotten? I'd love to see them on the collector market here though we know the Liberals would never allow that. Just like the 750 Lee Enfield .22 training rifles in the transit boxes that went under military guard to Stelco into the furnaces. As if a 4', 10 lb. single shot .22 rifle would ever be the criminal's firearm of choice.

What do you think one of those would be worth to a collector? Possibly quite a bit more then a generic modern duty pistol.
for a NOS / war stock unissued BHp..... $1200-$1400 would be my guess

I own a BHp that is in excellent shape and still has about 1/3 of its factory sticker intact, I've had it now for perhaps 2 decades and have fired perhaps 100rds

My friend Dennis from Empire Arms in Florida, just sold a chinese contract one with wooden shoulder-stock / holster in VG condition for $1,850.00 US

Oh guys it an old war horse like the 1911! I’m sure it will do fine. It’s not like a billion dollar missile system. But hey if it works it works…right?
To be honest, at least we have the Hi Powers, not like the AA missile system we keep telling Ukraine is "on its way". Anyway, they can't be in worse condition than the few Leos we shipped them.

You actually believe, they make it to Ukraine, to the front line troops. It's simply a method to get them off the books in a politically correct and unquestionable way. Once their off the books, there are so many things that can happen to them. Some might actually make it to Ukraine.

As an ex MP, that was my issue service weapon with the SMG as #2 though I had to qualify on them as well as the C1A1 (FAVOURITE!!). I qualified as 1st. class shot and marksman and ended up on the CFB Toronto pistol team. The HP's were difficult to tune due to the sear tripping lever arrangement, but if you took it all apart and carefully stoned the bearing surfaces on a hard Arkansas stone it would lighten and smooth out the trigger pull.
