10 Rd AR mags in 3 Gun

How did this issue not come up before with regards to IPSC rules? Surely someone out there must have tried using a Garand for 3-gun?

I used a Garand in a 3 gun at Smith's falls a couple of years ago- but I can't remember if it was sanctioned by IPSC or not.
Nothing wrong with it for IPSC rifle. It's a viable option based on it's 8 round capacity.

HPL, if you're referring to it's capacity - note this from FRT:
- the "magazine" feed device used in this firearm is exempt from the "REGULATIONS PRESCRIBING CERTAIN FIREARMS AND OTHER WEAPONS, COMPONENTS AND PARTS OF WEAPONS, ACCESSORIES, CARTRIDGE MAGAZINES, AMMUNITION AND PROJECTILES AS PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED". For further information or clarification see "Part 4, Prohibited Devices", "Former Cartridge Magazine Control Regulations".

8 Round clips in Garands have always been legal.

Remember, gentlemen - the only IPSC rule that applies with regard to ammunition capacity is 3.3 - you gotta be legal in the country you're in.

The 10 rounders with the Tactipul are the same length as 20 round mags.

The only problem I foresee is that all the tac gear people use is geared to 20's and 30's in sizes :) Who makes a malice/pals/molle ammo pouch for 10 rounders?

Hey we just created a new market in Canada!

we have been over this in the "black gun forum" and it is all right to use this mag in an AR-15 because of the very nice ppl over at questar they argued for the right to this mag on our behalf. the ruling from the CFC is at www.questar.ca/deals/LAR15_mag_ruling.htm. the question should be "can you use them in IPSC?" which is up to the rules of ipsc, and i dont know if you can.

From the May/June issue of Sitrep - page 14, NROI Q&A

"Q. what is the correct answer regarding the LAR-10, Ten Round magazines for riflles? Can we use them in IPSC matches or not?

A. The answer is yes, these magazines are completely legal for use in Canada. We've been informed that at least one club in Ontario has banned these magazines at their club. Any club that bans these magazines from an IPSC match will lose the sanctioning for that match. A club may make rules that supercede IPSC rules only if they are attempting to comply with local laws and legislation."
