10 Round AIA Enfield/M14 Magazines.

Just wondering, does AIA have exclusive manufacturing rights on the magazine, or could anybody manufacture them?

And if they do have exclusive rights to it, does that pertain just to the ten round magazine, or would it be any magazine for that rifle?

They designed the magazine..... so.... most likely they do. How ever they do use another company to make magazines for them.

I was thinking, would it be possible to have Norinco manufacture ten and twenty round magazines for the AIA rifle? Or just twenty round magazines? Norinco and John would likely make a killing, M14 owners would get standard capacity magazines, and probably make some fudds' heads explode in the process.

Anyone have info on what exactly happened with the idea of either having twenty round aia mags made, or the idea of making a bolt or pump gun that takes mags that could fit into a MODIFIED AR/M14/whatever the crap? I'd think that dlask would be on that like white on rice.

Maybe I should buy a nice CNC machine.... Oh wait, I forgot, I never cashed my lotto winnings check and it expired...

But seriously, I can't imagine someone hasn't tried this is in a proper way (I.e. making a manual gun that takes m14 mags etc.... I'm talking about a half assed manual gun that takes mags that are close in shape but deliberately different than those of a common semi auto. The difference would be something that would easily be modified on your semi auto to allow them to fit. Anything?)

Apparently, according to the rcmp, the "excemption" clause that states enfield mags can have ten rounds in the Order in Council section, actually means they can only have ten and no more.

A competitor of marstar has already gone down this road. I won't name them in marstars forum, but I will say they have their own section.

Ahh ok fair enough. I understand the forum bit too no worries.

Since this thread is about mags I'll ask it here tho, I've searched and come up with squat. Anyone try the halfassed bolt/pump thing properly yet?

Anybody can make them, if they want to.... One could make any capacity mag for this rifle since it is a bolt action

Norinco does NOT make anything, however one could get any magazine manufacturer to make up these mags.
How does getting AIA mags influence M-14 owners ??

The exemption applies to original Enfield mags .... Since the AIA is a bolt action no problem exists

Go over to the Northern Republic forum and read the thread on their project to bring in AIA bolt action mags for the AIA Enfield in 10, 20 and 25 round capacity. The RCMP have advised that all enfield mags are limited to ten rounds as per the regulations. The Northern Republic AIA mags coming in will be limited to 10 rounds as per this decision.

Please provide your source of this information ??

As you asked, here is the letter regarding capacity from NRM regarding the RCMP ruling.

Dear ++++++++,

This email is being sent to you because a problem has developed with your order.

In May of 2014 the RCMP had informed Northern Republic Magazine Inc. that magazines for Lee-Enfield variants not using the traditional .303 British magazine did not require a capacity restriction. However, in June of 2014, the RCMP has notified Northern Republic Magazine Inc. that they view the AIA Enfield magazine as a "Dual use" magazine with the M14 rifle, meaning that the capacity rules for semiautomatic rifle magazines should apply.

However, the RCMP have indicated that Section 84 of the Criminal Code of Canada's states that rather than the typical five (5) round limit for semiautomatic rifles, a permissible capacity of ten (10) rounds for the Lee-Enfield rifle applies to the AIA Enfield rifle instead of the five (5) rounds typically associated with magazines that can be used in a semi-automatic firearm.

Northern Republic Magazine Inc. had originally planned to bring the AIA Enfield magazine chambered in .308 Win into Canada with a ten (10) round limit, however the confusion with the RCMP prompted Northern Republic Magazine Inc. to change their marketing to promote an unblocked magazine. We understand that you may have made your purchase of an AIA Enfield magazine with the understanding that there was no capacity restriction on the magazine. However, in order to facilitate the legal import of the AIA magazines in Canada, all magazines with capacity over ten (10) rounds will again be manufactured with a ten (10) cartridge limit in place.

Should you chose to cancel your order, no penalties will be incurred and a full refund issued.

Northern Republic Magazine Inc.
