You got me to dig out the original box ( yes I'm that guy ) for the Nikon Prostaff rimfire 2 4-12 x 40 BDC150 scope. Apparently I can get a custom turret that I haven't yet. I know this scope can track from shooting the strings that hold the balloons. For a one inch tube the clarity is just wow. Though in low light it doesn't meet the capability of the new Leupold VX-Freedom 4-12 x 40 CDS 30mm side focus that i got for a black friday song at Italian SG for around 550. But the Nikon was like maybe 300 taxes in. It was nuts. I have mounted the Leupold on my very new eye poker T-Bolt 17HMR. Cheers

My advice is to keep it simple, get the best binos you can afford.

I think rangefinder binos make compromises on both sides, they just aren't worth it until you get to something like a GPO Rangemaster. Possibly the best value going in that category at present.

you can get a decent bino brand new for $500. A decent rangefinding bino starts around $1500 from what I have seen.

RF binos seem to depreciate rather quickly compared to regular binos...

Firstly i have had several Nikon rimfire scopes and 2-3 Monarchs on centrefires over many years and I agree they are/were an excellent product for the $$, however I think you'll find you actually have zero warranty should you ever require it. It's my understanding Nikon will no longer service their rifle scopes and haven't since they went in the woke direction. And, never is a long time.

Unless Nikon has changed their stance on scope warranties, this was their policy:

Scopes that require warranty will be replaced with any stock that is still available, or a check in US dollars will be sent to the owner with the current value of the scope.

This was the information I received from Nikon as a dealer at that time. (2023)

I rather doubt this policy has changed, however a quick call to their warranty department would certainly clear up any confusion.

Don’t take anyone’s word of advice (including mine), until you talk to Nikon directly.
Obviously things can change over the years…:)
 
I believe at most a person may get some sort of credit to apply towards another Nikon product but a riflescope is not being "repaired" per any sort of warranty granted with the original purchase is what I have been told. A "credit" towards another non rifle scope product is not a warranty imo and then the question becomes what exactly is the value given on a 5+ year old unit that sold for $200 or less (rimfire scope version) going to be?

As you say a quick call to Nikons warranty department will answer all questions but I dont know if anyone will be happy with the answers. No slams on Nikon BTW. I have owned and still own 2-3 of their rifle scopes and think they made a great product.
 
270AB, Trace Scope Repair is an option iff’in yer nads aren’t all bent on claiming warranty.

I had a B&L that I sent into Bushnell for warranty.
They replaced it with something newer that I was displeased with.

No notification this was what they intended to do.
I asked for my old scope back and they said it was disposed of,
Qwack fackers.

This was one scope I would of foregone warranty and had Trace repair it.

Sometimes life isn’t about free chit, regardless.

Now I have the desire to find a Nikon………..🧐
