100 Yard .22LR Challenge

CZ MTR 16" Barrel, completely stock rifle with a cheap Amazon Bipod and Caldwell rear bag. Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-16x44, Shooting Center X at 100m.

Still learning the wind and how much to compensate. Target is a good enough starting point for me on this challenge.

1st Target - 2.144 - .220 = 1.924
2nd Target - 1.307 - .220 = 1.087
3rd Target - 2.541 - .220 = 2.321

AVG = 1.777

The first post in this thread has the following.

THIS IS A CHALLENGE FOR YOURSELF. THERE IS NOTHING PERSONAL. IT IS NOT A COMPETITION. IT IS UP TO YOU AND ONLY YOU TO DO YOUR BEST AND LEARN FROM IT.

If you achieve improvement over previously posted results, please post them.

The post above shows results with a 2.075" average. This is not an improvement over the averages previously submitted with the same rifle in posts #75 and #84, which were 1.780" and 1.713" respectively.

At the same time, I see I overlooked the same issue with another entry in post #83 (aveerage 1.29") in which a second entry with the same rifle was not an improvement over a previous entry, post #80 (average 1.28").

I take responsibility for any confusion I caused by recording that entry in the 2023 results. It will be removed. I apologize for my mistake.

Improved results with the same rifle are encouraged. Results with a different rifle are welcome.

Shot with a Winchester 52 from 1935 at 100 yards.
The scope is a 6-24 Bushnell. Three different ammos were used; one for each target as shown near the target . . . Remington Eley Match (1067), Eley Match Biathlon (1085) and Remington Eley Match (1062). The number in parentheses is the published velocity. I will use this rifle today at our 100 Metre match.

Groups measured: 1.430 + 1.067 + 1.068 for an average of 1.189 inches

I shot before in post #38 with an average of like 2.44 or something.

Tried it again today. 30*, humid, very little breeze. I hate this particular range for shooting, the benches are all wack for a tall person like me.

Tika t1x, SK standard+, Match Pro on 16x, $27 Amazon bipod, bag of pea gravel. 1.9mil of adjustment from 50y.

1.32, 1.32, 1.42 (flier) for an AVG of 1.35, or 1.13 if you remove that one baddy.
My goal is to hit 1moa on one of these papers.

Tried this challenge again today, but had to use different ammunition. I would have liked to see if I could improve my groups without changing anything but I used the last of the Standard + I had.

100 yds, same Savage MKII and same setup. SK Long Range Match.

Marginal improvement, but improvement nonetheless.

September 10, 2023. Anschutz 1710 HB ES SS with a Sightron SIII 8-32 x 56.
Photo of both sides of the rifle to show the striping goes all the was through.
What started out as a ammo testing day came to this. The Sighter group was Remington Eley Match.
Shot from an MDT bipod and a rear sandbag.
The first five shots in the upper Right showed enough promise it warranted another five, and the rest is history after that.
The rifle was purchased off CGN two weeks ago and a friend delivered it Friday. The scope was in some High rings yesterday and I had some that were lower.
Today was another sight in with temperature at 13 degrees and only a hint of wind.
Eley TENEX with a published Velocity of 1060

Group 2 lower Left: 0.997

My first submission to this. I'm relatively new to shooting in general (started September 2022), so I've been having a lot of fun working on my skills. This challenge is a great way to keep tabs on my progress.

September 13, 2023 @ Ridgedale Rod & Gun Club @ 100 yards

CZ457 Varmint with MDT LSS Chassis and Timney Trigger @ 1.5lbs
Vortex Diamondback Tactical FFP 4-16 x 44
MDT GRND Bipod and rear bag
SK Rifle Match

Group sizes:
Upper right - 0.57" (Best)
Lower Left - 1.309" (Worst)
Lower Right - 0.911"
Average: 0.957"

Unfortunately the second group opened up and my average suffered. But of course the first group of the day I shoot is the best, and my PB. I was chasing those results for the remainder of my session! I've got some SK long range on the way to try out, but so far after testing 6 other ammo types the SK Rifle match is giving me some good and consistent results @ 100y.

Rifle has had a few tweaks since the last time out. I've been playing with the headspace and have a 0.005 shim installed now.

Conditions were perfect today with barely a gust of wind. Saw an improvement in average and best group. Very pleased.

barthammer shot in the 100/200 Metre Rimfire shoot at Mission DRGC on October 15 for the first time.
He placed first with a score of 596-37X. When he told me his handle, I pulled his targets and measured his second target.

1.176 - .22 = .956
.733 - .22 = .513
.818 - .22 = .598

Average: 0.689.

This exceptional considering it was on "Game Day".
He is now hooked and has been supplied with the 200 M. target.

The targets are collected by me, scored at home and tabulated which explains me pulling the targets . . . from the recycling!
After sharing the measurements he explained this was personal best and I believe it was worth sharing.

Not the best, BUT It's enough to beat my previous submission of 1.48 AVG.

Eley Sport ammo.

The 100/200 Metre Rimfire match was held on November 19th.
A hint of a breeze but a little switchy with a temperature of 6 degrees and some light rain.
The Anschutz 1710 HB ES (SS) has been shot before but those shot under timed standards have some extra degree of difficulty.
Firstly, the rifle had to be sighted in as it was not even on paper. With help from another shooter loading the magazines, ten shots were going down range in about one minute.

Ammunition: Eley TENEX with a published velocity of 1060.

The Target was the second of two and the score for the day was 596 - 23X. The first target had a nine and an eight.

Target 1: 1.224 - 0.22 = 1.004
Target 2: 1.075 - 0.22 = 0.855
Target 3: 1.498 - 0.22 = 1.278

Average: 1.046"

My granddaughter (10.5 years) shot a Cooper JSR and finished with a score of 574 - 21X.
Perhaps I could have put my score on Unlimited (1st Place) and moved her to first place in Hunting rifle.

Targets shot on "Game Day" always have greater meaning.

Shot our monthly matches today and the Remington 40XB starred.
Trying to get out of the range after clean up so no picture of the rifle as it sat today.
600 match and scored 599-37X. The average of the six 10-shot groups was 1.0385.
Using some Remington Eley Match from 2015.
Unfortunately the Hunting Rifle and 200 Metre did not go as planned.
