100 Yard .22LR Challenge

One of the nice things about this thread that was first created here on CGN by horseman2 is that it allows shooters the opportunity to post improved results.

This morning was one of the calmest I've seen at the range this season, warm and humid with a slight drizzle while I was driving in and setting up. I was able to improve my Anschutz 2013 results a little.

The group sizes are .757", .553", and .715". The three group average is .675".

The Anschutz 2013 and Sightron 45X scope below. The ammo was M+. For anyone who is wondering, the free recoil factory stock was modified to have a superfluous cheek piece by its original owner. I don't know why.

Went to the range last night and shot a 1.03 average but thought it could be bettered.
Anschutz 1710 HB ES.
Eley TENEX.
Sightron SIII 8-32.
A little mirage today. This was shot at 100 yards. The previous submission was shot at 100 M.

#1: 0.83
#2: 0.766
#3: 1.052

Average: 0.883

Wow, nice shooting!
While I can understand excitement, please comment until the cows come home -- but not in this thread. There's a thread for discussing anything related to .22LR at 100 yards. If there's something here that you wish to quote and discuss in the discussion thread that can be done without difficulty.

This thread is for valid entries only, please.

Today it's been hot and humid. And as so often accompanies these conditions, this morning it was very calm, near perfect for shooting .22LR at 100 yards. I had my Anschutz 1907. I got it last year but haven't yet posted anything shot with it in this thread.

I shot two boxes each from two lots of Midas +. The twenty group outcome was some of the best results I've had this season.

The sighter rounds were the worst performing in the box. (In fact they were the least consistent rounds this morning.) The three groups following the sighter group were .555", .749", and .754". The three group average is 0.686".

The Anschutz 1907 with the first BR scope I bought back in 2015, a Sightron Big Sky 36X.

So, I finally got out to see if I could do anything worthwhile at 100M Imagine my delight to shoot the smallest 10 shot group I have ever shot at 100M. Rifle is a M37 with a Krieger barrel and a Kenyon trigger in a custom stock that I do not know where it originated. On top is a Weaver 36X target scope with a 1/8 moa dot. Ammunition is ELEY Match EPS. The first target was shot in relatively calm conditions, the second was in some wind that showed up, particularly on the last target. Potential is there. The driver needs more practice in reading conditions.
Target 1: Group 1: .665 - .22 = .445; Group 2: .865 - .22 = .645; Group 3: 1.225 - .22 = 1.035; Average for the 3 = .7083
Target 2: Group 1: 1.183 - .22 = .963; Group 2: 1.037 - .22 = .817; Group 3: 1.803 - .22 = 1.583; Average for the 3 = 1.121

:)

I finally found the time to post my August 5th targets. Shot at 100 yards at Milverton Rod and Gun.
This is a bit of a mile-stone for me; I have a fairly fast developing cataract in my dominant right eye. My previous targets were shot with my bad eye, but since that time, it has deteriorated further. (My right eye has been diagnosed as legally blind, and I have have a consult with a surgeon Sept. 20; hopefully I can get this done sooner rather than later). As a result, I have shot this with my left eye, left handed, trigger finger and all. I am pleased with the results.

Rifle is a CZ Super Match in a MDT Oryx Chassis;
Scope is a Scope is a RITON 1 Conquor 6-24 x 50
Support is from a cheap Amazon Carbon Fiber Bipod is a cheap Amazon Carbon Fiber one; a small squeeze bag also cheap and from Amazon; and I am using an adjustable 3-D printed Bag Rider obtained from wesson357 .
Ammo is Norma Tac-22
Wind was behind me from the right at about 5-10 km.

First Target August 5/24 (Second target posted in next post):
Target 1: Max Spread 1.145
Target 2: Max Spread 2.336 (largest)
Target 3: Max Spread 1.965
Average of all three: 1.947"

A new to me Remington 40XB previously owned by eagleye.
This was the sighting in night and once set at 50 yards, eight groups were shot with TEAM and TENEX.
Moved to 100 yards and shot 10 shot groups with what appeared to be the best at 50.
The order shot was UR, LR, LL and UL. The largest group in the sighter was the TENEX so the TEAM lots are the basis of this submission.
The published velocities are in brackets. Interesting how the groups moved

#1: 0.508 (1083)
#2: 0.784. (1073)
#3: 0.826. (1069)

Average: 0.721

Well, after watching this thread for a few years I finally chose to fire 30+ on one target. I mostly shoot 5-round groups so this was weird.
Anyway , Rifle is a CZ-457 VMTR with ca 2.5k rounds fired. Scope is Athlon Argos G2 8-34x56 FFP ; Ammo used = SK Rifle Match, 'new production this past Winter'. Shot from a Primos 'Group Therapy' sled ; Sunny with Temp = 13*C with a light 5-10k variable breeze crossing Right to Left. Target stand is the one in the centre of Three in the range pic. Usually shoots 5-rounds ~ 0.5-6s, which I had on the sighter (covered by the caliper). Last pic is why there's an 'odd cheek pad'.
I used 0.200" for holes since that was what I measured on the Top-Right Bull, #1.
Bull #1 = 2.036 - 0.200 = 1.836" ( a couple fliers hurt this group, bad wind judgment )
Bull #2 = 1.595 - 0.200 = 1.395"
Bull #3 = 1.336 - 0.200 = 1.136"
Average = 1.456"

It was very cool this morning, but the conditions were quite good. The temperature was - 0.0 to 0.6 degrees Celsius while the following target was shot with my Anschutz 2013.

The group sizes are 0.564", 0.702", 0.620".

The three group average is 0.629", a personal best.

The rifle is an Anschutz 2013 and the scope a Sightron SIII 45X.

Shot this rifle at our 100 Metre Match on November 17 at Mission & District Rod and Gun Club monthly shoot in Hunting Rifle class.
Checking some of my groups previously submitted and they were 100 yard targets and not under the heat of competition.
Eley TENEX ammunition with a velocity of 1060.
Upper Right: 1.066" c-c
Lower Left; 0.896
Lower Right: 0.724

Average: 0.895

I’m sure this is a DQ but I’ve been following the thread for some time and have always wanted to give it a shot.
I gave it a shot today. And I’m sharing my results. As I will be trying again to better myself and document it.
This was my first time shooting this rifle @100 yards. Usually been doing 50

Rifle is a Savage BGTVXP (guess it’s some cabelas exclusive?) with a Barska 8-32x42
Shooting CCI standard velocity ammo.

First group 1.84”
Second group 1.764”
Third group 1.32”
For an average of 1.641”

I do believe I can better this. And will be trying again.

I gave it another go today.
I played around with some other ammo. Eley club I gave a shot from some things I’d seen online. So far the cci has out performed it 90% of the time. I’ll continue to try it. Same zero with that ammo is nice.

First stab at the challenge. Pretty satisfied with my results with this setup. It's geared for hunting small game.
Tried out some SK ammo for a treat, usually sees cheap bulk Thunderbolt or Golden bullets or whatever is on sale.
I did feel like the scope is my main hang up, its maxed out 9x

Rifle: CZ457 Canadian Edition
Scope: Burris Drop tine 3-9x40
Ammo: SK Standard +

1st: 1.650"
2nd: 1.808"
3rd: 2.012" (was best until flyer)
