$1000 10/22 - Finally Finished!! Updated With Pics - Post# 16

Every picture i see of these new nikkons they have that huge sticker on there. Looks tacky... I'd have ripped it off of there before putting it on my gun, let alone taking pics of it. No offense.

Nice looking rig otherwise, im looking forward to seeing how it shoots :)

Well, I don't know what happened, but my build has changed faces completely. LOL

What started as a compact, and light carry around gun, has now become a full out tacticool build.

When I learned about this Nikon P22 scope, I had to have it, and then the laminate stock just didn't make sense anymore, especially with the chipping.

So here she is, in all her glory!

Why stop building them? Now that you've got the hang of it, you can build the light carry one easier:). A little sanding on the chipped parts of the other stock and an 8" dlask barrel, cheap donor 1022, and the fun begins again.

so it will shoot just as well as my $300 10/22? :p

haha nice job, not sure I love the stainless look

I was originally going to get the blued, but none in stock. I am either going to strip the paint on the receiver, or pain the barrel. Haven't decided yet.

As far as accuracy is concerned, there is no comparison. I shot it with the factory barrel, and even after the other mods, the barrel change definitely helped.

I actually just got back from the range.....

Really hard getting used to this trigger, even though I have lightened it quite a bit. I am just spoiled with my Savage MKII Accutrigger I guess......

Typical groups @ 50m with Winchester, and Federal 40g RN. Not sure which is which but 1/2 inch groups were about the average.

And of course the best group of the day had to have a flyer. :(

This was with the American Eagle HP's which seemed to be the most accurate, but they would jam quite a bit, getting stuck in the rifling.

It's a 10/22....they are not suppose to be accurate :)
I have a $100 Toz78 that shoots circles around my Ruger, but the Ruger comes to the range every trip....Toz is collecting dust :)

Eh, I am just getting started, but those are at least half the size of the groups coming out of the stock 10/22!

I still gotta actually do some ammo testing, and get used to the trigger or get to tinkering.

And realistically I have my Savage MKII to make tiny groups.

This thing is really just for having fun, and the cool factor more than anything.

Very sweet build!m

Is that stock the exact same as the one on the VLEH model? Did it come with the bipod too, or is that another purchase? Always wanted a VLEH but missed that boat several years ago when they were everywhere

Old thread, but:

Yes, that should be the same stock as used on the VLEH... If you take a look at Ruger's website, they specify the Hogue OverMolded stock on that rifle. However, the bipod won't come with it (I don't think I've ever seen a stock packaged together with the bipod). IIRC, the stock can be had for about $100, and the Harris bipods are about the same (less for the cheap ones).

Having said that: What's the final cost into this build, as it stands? I know you added a bipod and changed the stock... Did you sell off any of your old parts (barrel and stock) to recoup some money? I know how much I've got into mine so far, so I may be able to get it in just under $1000 with all the modifications I want to do, so I'm always curious to see how other builds price out.
