$1000 for an AR....

Well, it looks a little different than it used to... It's running a magpul butt stock and pistol grip, an NEA BCG and fore end, and a BCM low profile gas block.

So you changed the BCG and the gas block, why? The Colt OEM is what, $300 more than the Norc and is a known quantity with mil spec parts. The NEA BCG(not high quality by any means) cost you what $190, the low profile gas block probably another $75 so your Norc cost you $950ish plus the hand guard, grip and stock. I don't see the appeal...

I rotate back and forth between the norinco and the nea bolt, more to have a spare if something goes sideways and while I take the other one apart for a really good cleaning.

As for the low pro gas block, I was given the fore end and it didn't fit with the front sight post/gas block so I decided to change it.

The hand grip was because I didn't like the feel of the original norinco and I had a buddy dumping a magpul one. Easy and quick change.

All of the changes on it were because I wanted to, not because any of the parts needed changing. I thought about changing the trigger too, but it's crisper than several other (including the colt) firearms that I tried. So if it works (5000 rounds and counting) why mess with it any more.

Some friendly advice.

Don't rotate bolts, test all bolts to ensure they work properly then stick with one until failure. That leaves you with at least one low mileage bolt to replace the one that fails. There is no gain in doing the detail clean on any part of an AR rifle.

The forend would have fit you cut and shaved the FSB but some don't like doing that. The grip is a personal thing and honestly the stock A2 grips are garbage.

I have the colt and love it, No issues so far. I'm not a fan of the front sight post either. I have watched some video where you chop it, grind it smooth, and then cold blue it. Seems and looks easy enough. Haven't tried it yet. First thing everyone asks me, is it a norinco, nope its a Colt!
