Hey all,
Just wondering if it is possible to modify an USC to take some pistol mags? I guess if it could someone would have done it, but who knows....

The mags on a USP and a USC are completely different in size and shape. I really don't see how a USP mag could be modified to work. If you have LOTS of loaded USC mags on hand when you are at the range, it is a lot of fun to shoot, even with the 5-round capacity :50cal:

Hmmm, you guys just made me think about something. There is an argument made that if you modify a pistol magazine to fit into a rifle then it de-facto becomes a rifle magazine (i.e. limited to 5 rounds) because the modification changed the purpose of the magazine.

Keeping that in mind, if one was to modify a rifle magazine so that it could fit in a pistol, wouldn't that make the magazine a de-facto pistol magazine, therefore limited to 10 rounds? That could then be used in the original rifle if the modifications did not affect the original purpose.

a year and a half ago, me and my buddy rented a USC carbine, and they had full 10 round magazines. I was under the impression that "pistol round = 10 rounds, rifle round = 5 rounds"....

Now, i havn't looked into it for a looong time, but was there some BS rule that was made between then and now to change that? I searched around a bit, but couldn't find anything pertaining to it....

sort of yep...

that's sort of it...sort of.

From my understanding, THEY look at what the mag was initially designed for.

A mag designed for a pistol can legally hold up to 10 rounds whereas a "rifle" mag can only hold up to 5 rounds.

Now the fun part is that it does not matter what you use the mag in....hence the CX4 Storm can use the pistol mags and have 10 rounds...but the mag that was designed for the CX4 is limited to only 5 rounds since it was "designed" for the CX4 specifically.

Same idea for the 10 round AR pistol mags.

hmmm, no wonder i've never heard anything of it till now, that really is a Cluster F***

I fear the RCMP/CFC is becoming too much like the ATF, making rules "as they go along" without anybody to intervene....
