12g reloading?

And real shiny and slippery :) Great for semi's
Christ like kids need a pic LOL

That's what I was reloading last night, the hull is just a shade longer than the red AA's I have so they crimp nicer.

If you are competing in trap or skeet then reloading and patterning your loads and tuning them to the range you need is for sure better than a factory load.
It’s time consuming testing your pellet density Ar different ranges and playing with different primers powders and wads.
That is part of the sport of winning and having everything perfect.
If your not a serious competitor than it’s definitely not worth reloading

No serious International competitor reloads. They get sponsorships.
You cannot get better shot than STS.
You cannot outperform premium factory loads with reloading.
A few competitors reload when they can save money while shooting 20k rounds a year, but most do the time vs $ equation and buy in bulk.

No but IMHO you can sure match them for less cost. Slightly yes in 12ga but still less
I know in my case I have had more premium factory poppers or duds over the years than I ever had in reloads
Cheers

Your math is different than mine.
Our available shot is Hummason, not remarkably hard at $60 a bag landed.
Which makes loaded shells about $8.75. No bargain.

The question is, where you get equivalent to AA hardness shot?
Hummason Extra Hard isn't, Lawrence, West Coast isn't. They are mid-quality equivalent shot, comparable to Estate Competition or Aguila loads. There is quite a lot of information on hardness testing of shot over on Trapshooters.com.
The shot quality, even in AA loads is not what it used to be. Winchester AA has gone to stating their shot in hardness equivalent rather in % antimony. Their advertising hype is deceptive, at best.
Apparently the only available reloader's market shot of highest quality these days is STS. I never see STS shot advertised in Western Canada.
Which leaves me using Hummason shot to make equivalent to Estate Competition loads out of AA components.

I never have reloaded to save money but to enjoy the hobby of reloading and ballistics both shot shells and metallic . I also don't drink cheap scotch.

How to you know hummasons extra hard shot isn't. Did it change I don't know since I still have 96 bags of a two pallet order ( maybe 80 a pallet) to use up we bought about 15 years ago from them. These have no KG on the bags all in pounds. LOL when you only shoot 410 and 28ga now takes a while to burn up a few tons
That is 5-6% Antimony 100% so IMO no different than what the factory supplies. Be interesting to ask what they make in 2020 I didnot know it changed
Too cold and too much snow to go to the stash and look but I seem to think there are bags there that actually state 6% right on the bag from hummasons
You also have to remember pellet size makes a difference and the STS almost 6% is for normally 7 1/2 and bigger no9 is like 4% Also
light harder shot bounce off easier than a heavier softer #9 shot that has the same or more momentum.
Me I never seen a difference between factory AA and my reloads and there was years I was putting 25,000 trough a 12ga but 95% skeet
Even trap shooters will tell you it makes ZERO difference at 16yards and minimal at 25/27 which I rarely shoot anyway
Lot of theory going on here and not enough time trying to center the target IMO
Years ago we would check but easier to ask
If your shot bushing dropped 492 grains (1-1/8 oz,) of 2% shot, it would drop 486 grains of 4% shot and 479 grains of 6% shot.
