15.7 inch vs 20 inch Diemaco

So What is the pros and cons between the C7 and C8? for Service Rifle Comp does one need a barrel length of greater than 18 inch? What is the difference between C7 and C8 barrels? I already have a custom made 16 inch AR. I am tempted to go C7 route. Just want to get as much info as possible. Also if AR went NR, i would most likely buy a C7. Any help be great.

The longer barrel will have a higher MV which is important in the wind and for the greater stability of projectiles that will affect accuracy at the longer SR ranges.

The SA15.7 has a heavy barrel which has greater thermal mass and is more rigid. For SR nearly everyone would choose the longer barrel.

Oh the choices. Do i sell my LEO Savage for a sweet CC rifle?...

Great info. Some questions which may have been answered already. I breezed through fast.

Does the 20" barrel have rifle length gas tube? Is the gas block 0.75"? What is the gas port hole size?

Are there plans for a 1/8 twist, rifle length buffer, adjustable gas block, full length handguard in the works similiar to the very popular Colt Competition model?

The SA20 has a rifle length gas system. The barrel OD is approximately .750. The gas port is the correct rifle sized gas port.

There are no plans to make anything different than 1 turn in 7" rifling. There are no plans to use a rifle length extension or adjustable gas blocks.

Also are the trigger pins civilian sized?

I assume you are asking if these are .155 or .170 diameter hammer and trigger pin holes? The SA rifles use .155 holes, as do all Colt Canada and Diemaco rifles, as well as current production Colt's Rifles.

In Australia I shot a 14.5" M4 (not by choice but it was better than being a spectator) back to 500m in competition against Mark 4 and Nightforce wearing DMR rifles. There were over 500 competitors and I placed 19th overall.
A little off the end of a barrel is less important than quality training.
