1760 yard shoot, its a go. 25 shooters signed up.

Supposed to be on a hunting trip that weekend but this sounds like a good time. Long ways off yet to confirm but i am definitely tagging for interest. As long as newbies are welcome anyway. Never shot long range before but i have .338 Lapua that needs trying.

For steel target holders, I am gonna try saw horse brackets (from Home Depot, Can Tire, Home Hardware.....) and using 2x4s for legs and cross pieces. Will allow some versatility for height.

As an idea for those who may attend.

Set up 2 tonight in my garage and found the foot print fron to back is short. Making this idea not very stable. Wind/rifle hit would knock it over. So some weight/stake foot into the ground would be required. As an FYI.

I scored 8 pieces of 1"X7"X18" plate on sat. Have 20 of the 5' rods cut for the legs of the target holders. Need to find some 1" pipe or 1" square tubing for the V for the top of the target holders and the cross rail holder. A farmer gave me some tire chains to cut up for the target hangers. I am going to use a simular version of what wheelgun made here http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=616190 but mine will have chain link welded to the back of my targets, for ease of removal/replacement. The chains go over the rod and re-attach to the link welded on the target. These are adjustable for hieght.
Doing all this plus building a house, isn't life grand. Starting the ICF block foundation walls Monday. Cool thing was I was working on targets last night(till 10pm) while my wife shovelled gravel inside the footings. Yup shes a keeper.

I would like to find a source for pipe like I had in Viking. I guess I shouldn't have sold those 4'X12' sheets of 3/8" plate. I could really use them now. I am going to approach our local scrap dealers and see if I can work something out. Borrow it and bring it back full of holes!!
I need 338 friendly gongs.

20 confirmed shooters. I will start a cancellation list.

So here's a run down of the spacing.
100, 200, 400, 500, 600.
800, 1000, 1200, 1400, 1500 and lastly 1760.
Range elevation 2004 feet.
I still need to find a large plate for the 1760. found one, thanks DMAY.
We can fill the gaps in the spacing with targets that other people bring and add to some of them to existing targets ranges. I will have it all marked out, it will just be a matter of placing them. The 338 and 50 guys who can bring targets let me know if you have stands to go with them or not. I have 2 - 338 cal targets, but no 50 cal targets. I have a 20' trailer to shoot off to get the prone guys up above the grass, depending how low they cut it, it might be ok on the ground. If you have a shooting bench, feel free to bring it. I just might do some distance layout work today. Dmay I need your rangefinder!! I'll just fly down and borrow it ok.
Range rules
Bolt open or out from case to line and back.
No gun fondling while people down range.
Buddy system of chamber check before moving from shooting line.
No restricteds.
You must belong to a gun club, or be an NFA member with insurance.
You must be able to contain your sh*t eating grin for 5 seconds after hitting the mile.
Oh ya bring a sence of humor too!
24 members in the 1 mile target club. 28 members in the 1500. 68 in the 1200. I'm smiling as I type this thinking about the memories. Life is good!
4 people have asked about bringing there dogs but I must insist, that you leave your dog at home please.

I can bring some targets as well. They are AR plate so should be good for all calibers. I havent shot them yet as just got them made up. Will have stands for them as well. I also had one made into a life size Coyote that I will bring.

I also have a wireless camera system that I can bring out as well. havent tryed it out to a mile but was supposed to be good for 2 miles with line of site.
