1760 yard shoot, its a go. 25 shooters signed up.

(re a .243 shooting at a mile...)

Which factory round and brand has prayer for this range?

To land a bullet a mile away? Each and every one of them.

To be usefully accurate? Virtually none.

To get pretty-much-as-good-as-you-can-expect result? Any appropriate match bullet in the 105+ grain class, loaded to as high an accuracy and as uniform a muzzle speed as possible (i.e. what every good F-Open competitor will be making for rifle at long range)

I am convinced on a Ziess scope which model will get me out there for a mile?
What rifle?
With a 115 grain bullet you have a 262 foot drop to contend with, if the bullet is traveling 3000 fps. You will need a 50 moa base under whatever scope you put on the gun. Then you may not hit anything in the scope closer than 400 yards. Ya might want to rethink that idea. I'm not aware of factory match ammo for a 243.

FMP theres a guy coming from Ont to the shoot!!
Thanks Steve see you sat.

(Re: Millet makes a 6x25 scope with 150 moa internal elevation)
My buddy has one.. Not sure you can see anything smaller than a pickup at a mile looking through it though...

Aim for the centre of the pickup truck ;-)

(more seriously - a 1 MOA target at 1760 yards is exactly the same size in your scope as a 1 MOA target at 500 yards is in your scope. So you don't actually need any more magnification at long range, nor do you need less magnification at short range.)

Clarity is the issue with the Millet.. It is like looking through a fog after using my Nightforce.

Personally I thought it was worse than a Bushnell 4200.. Maybe on par with a 3200?? But it has been awhile since I looked through it..

I have shot a mile with my 5.5-22 Nightforce while others were using more magnification.. One MOA is one MOA reguardless of range.

Work Bee for sept 10 - 11

I'm bumping the number of shooters up from 20 to 25, do to results from other shoots. There will be lots of targets and room for 6 -8 or maybe even 10 shooters at a time, cycling through. Let me know if you want on the list. I'll change the title when its full. 25 names on the list.
Muzzle brake shooters bring a duffle bag or something to shield the guy beside you!!
I'm having a work bee on sept 10-11 to get some things done. If you are available to help out pm me and I'll send directions.

If I can get the weekend off I will take a spot on the cancellation list.
#18 just cancelled its yours if you want it!
Time to go smooth that 18 meters of concrete I just poured!!
later
After the pour I took it easy and went and laid out the yard marks in the field!!!:dancingbanana: 500,600,800,1000,1200,1400,1500,1760. The 100,200,and 400 marks will be put in place after the mowing takes place. life is good.
I probably won't put targets at 300,700,900 bad spot,1100,1300,1600. I have put targets at those distances before and few shot at them.
