This!
All my scopes have AO. Don't leave home without it.
I'm using a Mueller APV on my bolt action 22 and I'm very happy with it. I might put one on my 17hmr as well.
I always read about this scope but (for the life me) cannot find one in Canada.
Where are you guys buying them? I had one lead somewhere out in B.C. but lost the info.
Anyone know if a store in the US will ship one over?
You guys are not making this easy.

lol maybe, we'll see.Congrats! Why feel bad when you can drive thumbtacks in at 100 yards? Not a lot of other shooters at the range can do that.
Yes, true, there is a 4-16 HS but the HS is a good $200 more than the base viper. I was hoping to get something for around $200 and was kinda cringing at the idea of getting a $600 Leup so the viper 4-12 was the middle ground. We'll see how I do with it. In any case I'm sure I'll be able to kill squirrelsThere is no Viper in 4-16x? That's weird...I own one.http://vortexcanada.net/products/riflescopes/viper_hs/viper_hs_4-16x44_bdc.html Granted, it's on my .223. My .17M2 wears a Vortex Crossfire II, loving that scope so far.
I dunno... I guess I'm just used to crappy old cooeys with iron sights lol. This is my first spendy rimfire. No snow in the valley right now but there is a skiff up in hills. Probably have to brush an inch or 2 off the shooting bench but I imagine the road in is free and clear. Should probably get up there for some blasting before she gets socked in.$ 1000 rimfires are the norm, aren't they? Annies and scopes, Brownings and scopes, CZ s and scopes. Seems normal to me. Is your weather there still good to shoot? We're under a mound of snow.
Yeah, I've looked at the bushys and I haven't been impressed at all. The crossfire is the scope below the diamondback and the diamondback looked like $hit to my eyes. The viper was clearly a better scope from what I could tell.Im have been looking at the bushnell legend ultra hd 4-14 44 for my 17. Was looking at a crossfire II awhile back
Noooooooooooo! UUuuggghhhh.... I did it... I spent a butt load of cash on a scope. I looked at the Vortex Diamondback 4-12 and it looked like $hit so I got the Viper 4-12. Has side parallax which is nice but it was like $440 before tax. So I spent as much on the scope as I did on the rifle. It's now a $1000 rimfire. Buyers remorse. Need to get out and shoot it so i don't feel so bad
I just wish there was a viper in a 4-14 or 4-16 as I would have gone with that.
Ugh... tasco was the first scope that was on it... don't tell anyone. If I plateau at 100yd cloverleafing I'll be happy with thatYou would be really remorseful if you purchased a Tasco!!!!!Don't feel bad at all.
You followed the guideline when choosing optics, rifle value = scope value.
The only draw back is you may want to upgrade the glass once you plateau with your skills.![]()
Well this is my first vortex and we'll see how she does. I too had cheap scopes for the longest time. The most expensive scope I had was a Falcon Menace 4-14 but I ditched it because I'm pretty sure it's a piece ofWell, sounds like you've looked around a bit...peeked through a bunch of scopes. Worth the effort...nobody likes an optics-related surprise on a mail-order scope! lol Interesting...the $1000 rimfire comments. It's true. 4-5 years ago, I thought $150 was WAY too much for a scope, but that thought process actually ended-up costing more...as I burned through a pile of economy, let-down scopes. Now, I pick rifles BASED on how much I'll be able to afford scope-wise. Lesson learned. I'm not a scope snob by any means, I want the best I can get for the least amount. Considering the magnification req. for rimfire shooting distances...I still have a $300 top-end/mental block. I could justify 2x that much for my Viper HS, due to the reach of the .223, and the fact that it gets hunted heavily and needs to be an ace pc. of glass in field conditions.

. It was on a Rem700 XCR Compact tactical in .308 and my groups were sucking so I replaced it with a Leupold VX-3 6.5-20. I've been on a bit of a leupold kick lately... I think my new found interest in expensive glass may be due to the purchase of a Savage. I put a VX-3 2.5-8 on it and I was losing bullets in the same hole at 100yds. That may say more about savage than anything else. Anyway, it's Friday, I've had a couple beers and now I'm rambling.
