I screwed it in further and it didnt help, so i reset it back to the normal position again. The manufacturer is ASC which is dissapointing because the store i bought it from said it would be a magpul mag.

Also the buffer tube isnt fully screwed in as there are multiple threads showing... should that be concerning?
As long as the tube catch’s the pin. Try another mag?

Well, im gonna go buy some magpul mags on monday I guess and test it out again. Kind of lame that the store doesnt check simple functions with diffrent magazines before shipping them out to customers. Although, it could have been a mistake as they were sending things out the door asap on Thursday to meet the deadlines before Christmas I guess.

So far, my XCR-M and PMAGs lock in securely.

Could be you have a unusually short tab (lack of a better word) on your mag catch or possibly a burr in the receiver that is preventing it from seating fully? Can you feel the mag catch if you slide you finger inside the magwell?

In my case, a charged Pmag has trouble seating on a closed bolt and the follower doesn't lock the bolt back on empty. My gun also FTFs for virtually every shot, so I suspect that it's under-gassed and/or it doesn't like the mag. I'm slowly diagnosing the problem, but I won't get a chance to shoot my gun again until after the New Year.

Seems a misaligned gas block is a issue with these firearms. Check yours

Have you owned an AR prior experience this STaG 10 purchase?

With all the AR style related issues perhaps the Mods could create a special Forum Category: Help for your New AR Platform or something....

How about a first time AR owner sticky thread. It appears many repetitive questions are better by asked.

Yes, the magazine states that it is a 308 CAL and the brand is ASC out of New Britain CT (connecticut), also uploaded some pictures of the inside of the magazine well. Not sure why they are so big but if you open them in a new tab they shrink with a zoom in option.

Buffer Tube has nothing to do with it. If it just one manufacturer of mags, its likely the mag. compare the catch notch on the suspect mags and compare them to the mags that work.
