....................

XCR-M mag in my stag, no issues whatsover (locks in, dumps out, feeds correctly). Its the only type of mag i have for it though, so can't try others. I wish I had a magpul pmag, at least to try it out... might check to see if anyone is selling one on the EE for not-so-expensive.

Mine works just fine with pmags. Could it be a magazine issue?

As for the comment about reliability with mags, I've seen a lot of dropped mags out of Colts with issued mags.

Your buffer tube comment doesn't make sense - it will look similar on an AR. The threads on the tube will never be completely 'covered' when installed into the receiver. So long as it's aligned correctly for the stock and it's retaining the buffer detent/spring it is completely fine.

The mag catch issue I believe was posted about in Armseast's forum/threads - not sure what the problem is, but a number of people had success with switching out the mag release to a Norgon Ambi. If Armseast actually replies to your emails (or provides any customer service) they should be able to clarify and rectify the situation fairly quickly.

Mine ran fine with the stock mag release. I got a Norgon ambi and mags were dropping like flies. So I just use the stock mag release. Which sucks as I am a lefty with a Lefty Stag 10

Just tried and it does not, still same problem.

You can probabaly observe this better with the lower separated. When you insert the mag you do not hear a click? If not, the catch and mag hole not getting aligned to engage as a starting point.

Hummm, I borrowed a Norgon from my other rifle so this isn't good to hear. I wonder if there isn't enough spring tension on the Norgon so the recoil is enough to work it. This would suck if it's the same with my rifle 'cause I'm a lefty too.

Try turning the mag catch button on further.

You guys realize that tightening the mag release doesn't or can't physically pull it closer into the receiver, right? If it is catching on the edge of the receiver when the button is depressed, indeed, the release is not screwed in enough or if the mags pops free when in use might be insufficient compression on the mag catch spring. It's very possible that the mag catch recess was not milled deep enough or the mag catch tab (lack of a better word) is on the short side.

In the first pic,it looks like the side of the mag well has a slight raised bump , just before the mag catch slot.

Looks like the mag catch can’t engage because the inside of the magwell has this raised area???

Hey, somebody gets it.

have you guys looked at any US forums to see if this is a common issue?
I had minor issues first with gen3 pmags (lr/sr) , the 5/10 mags fit and function perfectly in relation to the magwell and mag release in both stags but on one of the sets doesn't lock the bolt back on the empty pmag. The other set the pmag works perfect all around.
The XCR-m mags , all new in the wrap, fit and function perfectly in every way in one set, but would not lock in on the other set. On that build I swapped out a random ambi mag release I found in my parts bins.... no clue on brand or quality..... and now that build also functions perfectly all around with the xcr-m mags, all 6 of them.
The one build still will not lock back the bolt on the empty pmags but the xcr mags are fine....so it's either a bolt stop issue or ?

I screwed it in further and it didnt help, so i reset it back to the normal position again. The manufacturer is ASC which is dissapointing because the store i bought it from said it would be a magpul mag. Also the buffer tube isnt fully screwed in as there are multiple threads showing... should that be concerning?

none of my asc mags I got work in my BCL102 , but my C Products Defense mags work perfect , Ive emailed my dealer True North Arms to take them back

That bump is under the mag catch, basically it's a raised spot for it to catch on

I've looked at my receiver and I'm using a troy ambi safety, protrudes the same amount as the factory safety and fairly similar to your picture. It does not stick out much past that round slot going up the magwell. Some mag catch holes in magazines have a crimped top section of the square hole to positively hang on the catch, others just have a crimped bottom only to act as the stop against the catch.

Seems like a dremel is the way to go...or try ambi mag releases randomly...lol. Would it be possible to slightly flare out the catch window on the mag with a needle nose?

Its solid aliminum, it wont bend if anything mar the survace, ding and dent, or full on crack it, but good news you would have a show piece, tho they are NR, so not as interesting LOL
