I am new to the form so please bear with me.
I was given a basket case snider enfield. When i got it home the stock was broken at the comb but all the other pieces were there. All the parts are marked WD (war department), the lock has a crown and under it VR in front of the #### is the date 1860, the barrel is marked III steel and is clean (with numerous other prof marks). I believe this make it a Mark3 snider purposely built for the war department. The problem is that i do not have the locking swing out breach block I have been on the net looking with no results. IMA in the states could not come up with one. Does any one know were i mite be able to obtain a locking snider enfield breach block. Thanks

Best bet is to watch EE for a beater that comes up from time to time (usually in the 250-350 range). Scavenge parts you need sell those you don't

Antique parts EE and Ebay are other options. Try putting up a WTB ad on the EE.

You can learn a lot at British Militaria Forums. They sometimes have parts in their EE equivalent section.

Lastly, you have primed the pump by enquiring here of course. Someone may have a spare kicking around

not likely going to find one easy you would need to find someone parting out a gun. I wish people would stop using the lock year as the gun year as its not these locks came off of p1853 Enfield's(on the mk1 and mk2 sniders they also used the barrels from the Enfield's) these guns were made after 1865. all you are going to find a IMA is Nepalese sniders they are very crude and can't really be used as parts for British sniders

IMA has brought back both English and Nepalese built firearms. Nepal wound up being the last stop for all sorts of British military rifles, they were passed on to Nepal as they fell out of use in the rest of the Empire. They still list genuine British Enfield Sniders for sale, and some of the springs, barrel bands, etc...in the parts section. A quick browse doesn't show any breechblocks listed though. Might be worth contacting them to see if there's anything kicking around, they stripped some un restorable rifles for parts. Otherwise it's gun shows and parts rifles most likely....

i don't see any British sniders I see a lot of Nepal made sniders I don't think they got very many British made ones the Nepal snider looks a lot like a mk3 but its not the chambers are not always round and there's even some inconsistent bores

those must have been put up recently because I remember them only having Nepal built sniders

I think their stock fluctuates with piles of rifles still in storage somewhere. They seem to bring in a new batch every once in a while. I like to keep an eye out for a Martini, hoping to buy one once my financial situation stabilizes this summer (I hope).

try William Henry Oakley & Son Militaria there in England they just started a new website so they don't really have anything listed on it
but they claim to have over a million antique flintlock percussion and breach loader parts.

they have storage all over their area one got broken into a few years ago

Forget a Nepalese part completely. The Nepalese rifles are very SIMILAR to English Sniders but they are not IDENTICAL.

In the case of the Mark III breechblock, the Nepalese rifle uses a smaller-diameter locking pin. Installing one of these on an English-built rifle will give you a Breechblock which will be able to rattle up and down, even when fully locked.

There ARE parts around and every so often somebody decides to part one out. Keep an eye on the Equipment Exchange; I have seen a couple in there from time to time.

The old girl has been waiting for some respect for a century; she won't mind another few months!

Good luck!

Iam located in Niagara Fall ON. I have applied for access to EE just waiting for permission. I tried Oakley in England, they have nothing but suggested IMA - already checked them out they don't have a breach block either. I will check out different gun shows in the Niagara area. As smellie said "The old girl has been waiting for some respect for a century; she won't mind another few months"!!!! hopefully sooner than later.

I have been looking for the proper extractor for my mk2* action for over a year I found a breech block and the rest of the parts by luck about a week later

You are totally in the right place, the Hamilton Millitaria Collectors Society HMCS has a gun show every two months at the Ancaster fairgrounds in JERSEYVILLE (the fairgrounds were moved a few years ago lol).
Lots of guys there with all sorts of bits and pieces, if you don't find one, start asking around, someone might know someone etc...

antiqueguy, you posted 5 times and none of your posts had any assistance in finding or sourcing the parts ,just kinda random statements with no help ....just an observation
