I pick up this Marlin 1893 DOM 1904 it was hard to tell from the pics but it looked like it needed some work.
Turns out the rifle had been varnished the whole thing even the trigger was stuck.


I used paint stripper and it wiped off with paper towel no scraping at all, the stock I dd with 0000 steel wool after the varnish was off.



IMHO it turned out great, I am wondering if the finish could be original and maybe protected under the varnish for 50 or 60 years.
