1895 Winchester copy

For those interested in the Winchester Model 1895 the following is a link to a well written article about the Model '95. It also talks about the "Third Generation" Model 1895's being made and there pros and cons. When this was written no one was making the SRC. The author of this article has since passed away but it is still a good reference for anyone with interest in the old '95 and it's history.

I have one in 30/06

1895 replica

I have one of the grade 1 rifle replicas manufactured in Japan by Miruko (sp) for USRAC/Winchester branded in 1995 in 30-06. Accurate, a bit heavy, acceptable recoil-a bit sharper than the 45-70. Shotgun style butt. Nice smooth action. No optical sights available that I am aware of. There is some kind of Lyman available but is it needed?? A bit of a pain to load with cold fingers. I like the tang safety (until I forget to move it to the shoot position) as it has a familiar feel to my double shotguns and with cold wet hands I believe it is safer. The hammer is the rebound type. ya ya I know, I still like the old ones too and at least it is not a cross bolt safety ... . Great range of ammunition available for the 06 at reasonable prices.
It is a really nice addition to my original 1886 in the lockup. Go for it, you will love it. The carbine model looks great.

x2

This is a very good article by Redcoat on the Leverguns.com site. If you accept his production figures as accurate, how many '95s were made in 7.62 Russian and how many were made in .30-40 Krag, its interesting to think just how few '95s were made in .303 British.

Lots of other good articles there on levers. Thanks for posting Road King.
