1904 sxs shells

You may have to roll your own. I start with Federal paper shells and trim them about 1/4 of an inch. I resize and then load them with BP, over powder card, fiber wad, shot ans over shot card. I finish with a roll crimp. I found the required tools at a gun show. You need the following: trimmer, resizing tool, decapper/primer seater, a scale to weigh powder and shot, a dowel to push down the cards and wads, and a roll crimper. Total cost was less than $100 for the tools.

I noticed some lots of 2.5" 12 ga. shotshells in the next Lansborough auction. Some are black powder factory loads and some are low pressure smokeless. Shipping is a killer but your LGS may be able to order in RST or Gamebore low pressure shells. Where are you located? (and tell us about your piece of history)

I was the duty range officer when a young member blew his face open doing exactly that.
The police checked his computer afterwards and found he got reloading advice off shooting forum.

I have a double barreled Damascus steel barreled side-by-side with exposed hammers that I reload "black powder" shotgun shells (really Pyrodex) for. I watched a lot of Youtube videos, made my own "pound and load" system to trim (x-acto knife), deprime (nail), reprime (manually), then "square load" (equivalent volume pyrodex and shot) with 3/4" round cardboard stock (used a craft hole-punch from Amazon but I hear Michaels sells them). I then glue (white glue) an overshot card on top of the shot.
Depending on the load, I will often use a wad of paper towel as a shock wad between two pieces of cardboard stock (over the powder and below the shot).
Used it a few lines of trap with this shotgun and my own reloads. Fun! Plan on taking it rabbit hunting soon (or as I like to say, take my shotgun for a multi-hour walk through the woods and shoot nothing).
