1911 .45 or 1911 9 mm, which one?

I would like to know if I used a Kimber Custom II Target in .45 cal. and the exact same gun in 9 mm at 25 yds. which would be more accurate using factory ammo? I had 3 .45's but never a 9mm and I was thinking of getting the 9mm this time. I will only be shooting paper. Thanks.

I think only a few of the people that have replied to your post actually read the question... ;)

From my own experience with my 1911s in both .45 ACP and 9mm, I don't think one caliber is inherently more accurate in a 1911 than the other. It really depends on the individual shooter.

I think 2 identical 1911 (one chambered in .45 and the other in 9mm), that are set up exactly the same way, would be capable of producing almost identical groups at 25 yards. Some shooters will shoot better with the .45 and some will shoot better with the 9mm. But I would attribute any difference to the shooters not the guns.

The 1911 is a platform capable of incredible accuracy. A well built 1911 is an accurate 1911, regardless of caliber.

Thanks to everybody who answered my question. What I have to figure out now is how do I buy them both and still keep my wife lol.

1911?

Get both!! The .45ACP first, then 9mm after that.

There are a few advantages to a 9mm 1911

1. Cheaper ammunition
2. lower recoil
3. Longevity of the gun, it was designed to take impact of .45ACP, 9mm is much less.

The only draw back is that it takes a good manufacturer/gunsmith to make a 9mm run well in 1911 platform.
