1911 9mm?

It's still a cool grand less than a Wilson or a Night Hawk.

DW funally raised their priced in 2010. They were a steal up to now considering that they have very similar build quality to, and high end parts of, some very big name semi-custom 1911 builders such as those mentioned above... They are still a bargain, just not a steal. ;)

Spoke with Walt at Arms East this morning, he seems like a good s**t. He confirmed that TSE did contact him about the Guardian, and he expects to have them in Canada in under three months. The price was a little higher than I was expecting, but not out of line at $19xx, I don't remember the exact figure. So, that's the latest.

Price sounds about, given their 2010 pricing. Thanks for the update! So did you order one through Walt or are you just going to keep you order open with TSE?

Take a good look at CZ 75's. I have a CZ 75B and I'm very happy with it. The High Power is also a very good choice.

Why 9mm ? I would go with at least 40 S&W. I little more money than 9mm to shoot, but a lot more power.

I would recommend going to a range that has range guns and trying a bunch before buying. If you know other guys with RPAL's they will likely let you go with them to the range to cap a few rounds.

TSE is ordering through Walt, and he indicated he didn't care who I bought it from. On top of that I like to support my local businesses, so I'll let my order stand. Walt is going to give me a call when the Guardians arrive though.

liketoshoot, I'm a big CZ fan. I've used 75's and Limited's in the past, really good guns. If you consider the price, great guns. The SP01 is one of my favorite pistols at the moment; looks great, shoots great, feels great, love it. But, I'm looking for an aly framed, commander length, bob tailed, 9mm 1911. The DW is the best buy of the few choices available.

Just curious what were the other options you were considering? I'm looking for something similar but a new DW is still a little bit out of my price range.

STI gives you a few options for single stack 9mm's. I've had a Trojan 9mm before, and besides the funny name, it had a multitude of problems, and some of the parts were a little suspect. Plus, no commander option, no aly frame (weight), no bobtail (not a must, just preferred). The Kimber Aegis looks promising. Has everything except the bobtail, and is even the same price. I prefer the look, finish, QC, and exclusivity of the DW however. Nighthawk has an offering but there's no 9mm option, and I don't feel the additional cost over the DW is worth it to me. Springfield also makes/made 9mm's, but I've never been impressed with the quality vs. cost ratio of Springfield 1911's. My first custom 1911 was built on a Para frame kit back in the day. If they were still Canadian I would consider going that way again; just because. However, they're not anymore, and I've found quality vs. cost discrepancies in the past (like Springfield). Plus, no bobtails or commanders. Holly hell! I think this took me an hour to hunt and peck, phew!.

deets, If you don't mind a full sized 9mm, consider getting an STI from Gunnar and have him give it the once over before he ships it to you. Or, if you don't mind a 45, look for a DW CBOB; awesome buy. Especially at around $1200 used. You might be able to find a used Colt 9mm, I can't remember the last time I've seen one though. I always hear these mythical stories but never see the pistol, kinda like Saskwatch.

I've seen 2 or 3 in the EE over the last month or so.

Mr. Spectacular, awesome screen name by the way. That's what I'm talking about, they pop up on the EE, some guy at my club tells me about the one he "just" missed out on, etc., etc., but I never seem to "see" them.

I actually own both firearms mentioned, M+P 9mm and a beautiful ( IMHO) Para 1911 in 9mm. The Para I got from Frontier firearms ( excellent people to deal with and the M+P here in Calgary. The Para is very choosy about ammo, it does not like lead, but it does have a match barrel, don't know if that is the problem, maybe. Once I put some rubber grips on it felt 100% better. I like them both, as does my wife. Actually getting to the range tomorrow to test out some loads, and if they work out I might try it in IDPA this year.
