As im sure this will create a nest of worms which is good im wondering what Brand my fellow CGN's prefer For 1911.
I am currently tossing the Idea around of a sig. I figure im going to get a poly frame gun in 9 id get the 1911 for my 45.
I've shot lots of 1911's love the 1911 but never shot more than two back two back to make a call between all the brands.
Mostly im looking for something not with a super wow factory that looks crazy customed but something well built with maybe a bit of flair.

Also ive seen flat and round triggers what do you prefer and why.

Obviously budget is a big part in answering your question. Because you mention Sig I'm assuming you are looking in that "just above 1K to just below 2K" mid range segment but not getting into the higher end stuff like Les Baer or Ed Brown. If I am correct I'd suggest also looking at the STI line. I have a .45 Trojan (around $1400 retail) that I like very much.

I am a sig 1911 fan have the target stainless. Excellent value at 1100-1200$. Also, just got a STI Trojan and both are super tight, super accurate but since the trojan is a few hundred more the nod goes to the sig. Only downside is the sigs are series 80 with the extra safety bits. I just tossed them out and put in a shim...

If you are looking at SIG 1911s, I found one with flair and function! It's the TTT model. Super accurate with a Match barrel and really well fitted. About a 5lb trigger.
Mr00Jimbo is hosting the pics for me as I'm a doofus with my stupid Photobucket!
Targets shot at 14yds two hand unsupported. 13 rds.

A good place to both start & end up. ;)

NAA.

Have and shot most 1911's out there in competition and just plinking. Can't beat the colts, but I am starting to like the Sigs a bit more now (TacOps)

I have a Remington and Springfield. Remington isn't bad for a budget 1911, trigger could DEFINITELY be better but for a milspec and the price, it's not bad. My Springfield on the other hand, fantastic handgun, however a caveat is that it's mostly a custom job, and went from a MilSpec to something much better
