1911 in 9mm for 3-Gun?

I have been shooting 1911/2011 since in the 80' either for sports and work, and I never had a problem with it, the thing with the 1911 is that there are so many manufacturers and some are really crappy, its not manufactured with one standard, everybody has its own " spec". way back when you buy a 1911 ( Colt) from the gun store you go straight to a smith to have the extractor tune and install some parts for enhancement, but its not the fault of the design, it was expected that when have a 1911, the owner will modify or enhanced, so manufactures doesnt care about their products. That's the reason Bill wilson, EdBrown and Clark existed. you can say thanks to Colt. But when its built properly and with the modern manufacturing process today, a lot of factory guns ( brand) now are running without a problem. Forgive my English. and btw, thanks for STI/SVI for leading the manufacturing innovation of parts.

Dan Wesson if you can get one,Sig Match Tradional, although havent shot the Sig my brother has one in the states, I can't name the others since have no experience with it

I guess your talking about some cheep 1911. This is not true in a quality 1911. I have several and they all run perfect. Tune it it will run. Use quality ammo. Don't buy a cheep 1911.

Has not been my experience, My 1911 runs flawlessly, it's not that hard to set them up to run right. Generally a Top tier 1911 WILL NOT need to be touched out of the box.

It's usually when DIY "gunsmithing" that brings a 1911 to it's knees, and then you might need a pro to get it running right again

Yes it does lol...My G34 hasnt choked like ever! No handloads required... Just pumping elcheapo manufactured 9mm through it.

Out of all the matches I've been to ( which isn't very many BTW) IF I whitness a handgun malfunction, it's always a 1911 platform.... Coincidence I think not.

And I'm no glock fanboy either, may sell the glock to buy a hammer gun soon.

Gosh I usually don't go down these rabbit holes, but here goes...

I just shot the IPSC provincials and my 9mm 1911 ran without a hiccup, no jams, no FTF's, no FTE's, no rounds stuck in chambers, no double feeds. I feed it factory ammo, re-manufactured ammo, reloads from my Dillon for competition...

I did witness other pistols with those malfunctions, some were polymer, some were steel, some were the result of bad hand loading, some, who knows. I have shot 1911's in competition since the 90's, in my actual experience, it's been a great platform for competition, and my go to for IPSC.

I'll put my 9mm 1911 against your G34 all day long in terms of reliability. Not only will it run longer and faster, it will be more accurate too.

I am into 1911s and Glocks. As a matter of fact have seen multiple people's G34 choke at events, at least one of them was stock and using manufactured ammo.

I love shooting my 1911s more at the range. For 9mm my STI Ranger 2 has never choked. It eats lead or jacketed alike, I would not bother trying to feed it flat nose ammo though.
If I have to carry I will lug my G17 with its heavier trigger. It eats round and flat nose alike, but I'm told not to feed it pure lead rounds.

I trust them both but will feed them with the right ammo, I don't see why we have to hate one or the other.

It probably will.... although my G34 has served me very well.... im beginning to realize there is handguns out there that will fit me better and probably perform nicer.

Eye balling CZ's and 92's
