1911 in 9mm or just go to 45ACP?

this thread was going great till you arrived with your unsolicitted political opinions.
It's about 1911's in case you missed it.
take your bullsh!t elsewhere
Truth hurts.
I'm sorry I interrupted your delusional dreams.
I understand your feelings were hurt, but I'm right about what I said.
None of the corrupt political parties are going to repeal any firearms laws.
I hope you have a splendid day. šŸ˜‰

I owned a Kimber in .45ACP with one of their .22 conversion units. Sold it and miss having a 1911. Should the Trudeau "freeze" be lifted I'd be putting an order in for an alloy frame, commander-sized 1911 in 9mm. Dan Wesson, Kimber or Smith and Wesson would all be considered.

I have a Smith & Wesson 1911 Pro Series in 9mm and it's a beautiful gun. It is also very accurate and a hoot to shoot.

Hey guys-I was musing about this recently. With PP likely taking government in the coming months I think we're all wondering about how soon handguns will be part of of the picture again, and I was looking at restricted courses this spring in anticipation of that. I'd been more focused on the "will they/won't they" and far less so on what pistol I'd consider if it all comes together.

Of course, I have a rimfire in mind (Taurus TX22 with optic mount or one of the Ruger 22/45s) and would probably settle-in to something in 9mm for cost reasons....but boy, it's always been the 1911 in 45 acp that got the juices flowing.

What are considered the best 9mm/1911s out there and failing that, best all-steel 9mm auto?
Why settle on a 9mm and why not get what you really want?
Reloading and casting is half the fun. 45acp is cheap to load.
9mm would be last caliper I would ever choose. To common,to popular, to trendy,to boring.
I'm 45 all day long but I would take a 38 super over a 9mm just because I think a 9mm is that boring.
With guns buy what you like.
I've been daydreaming about what I'm going to buy when Pierre Poilievre gets rid of liberal gun ban.
Probably 2nd Gen colt single action armies in 45 L.C. Seems everyone in cowboy action is going to 38 special so .357 is better caliper for that sport but years ago I had .357s I want the 45L.C. so that's what I'm getting.
BTW years ago I owned 45 cal 1911s. Great gun if your into modern stuff. You can even load them with black powder if you're shooting outside.

Kids acting like kids, can't help himself, go take a look at his previous posts and feedback profile, one says he's a total POS

Consider, or take a look at what Ruger has to offer. With flame suit on, I'd suggest they're better than the Colt's they're cloning. They are certainly more robust.
Below is a fairly unique New Vaquero offering with "Bisley" grip and hammer spur (.45 Colt), that I picked up in the panic buying era, and it's wonderful.
I haven't started loading for it yet as I'm still in brass collecting stage, but I am looking forward to seeing just how hard this thing hits will full house loads. Even with factory, off the shelf cartridges, it hits hard. Swings steel plates with authority.

They of course also offer Colt Peace Maker, plow handled clones, and I assume they're every bit as robust as the Bisley.

I have both a 9mm and a 45... The 45 don't get shot much. The 1911 platform is great and there are so many options for price levels. It's (besides an AR and a 10/22) easy to get into one at a comfortable price, and upgrade a few things to customize it to what you actually want ie: grips, trigger, springs, etc.

I'm unfamiliar with new rugers but I'm not interested in transfer bars. I want either 3 click rugers like the old 3 screw rugers or a 4 click colt.
Another thing is I want all steel non stainless guns. I don't want aluminum ejector rod housing or grip frames.
Now what will be available and what I can afford I'm not sure about.
Ruger Old armies with conversion cylinders might be kind of cool if I could find a pair.
Actual colt SAAS are the guns I've always wanted and never actually owned. Since covid it sounds like the quality of the Italian replicas have gone way down.
I'm getting more involved in cowboy action shooting and meeting more shooter's in the sport. I'm thinking when Poilievre reverses handgun freeze that something nice will come up for sale.

I love the transfer bar.

PP has to get in first. And its no longer guaranteed now. The brainwashed supporters of the LIEberals are already talking like Carney is the second coming of JHC

Don't get a double stack 9mm 1911. They feel aweful in the hand. Some sort of mini 1911 single stack in 9mm would be awesome if someone makes one. Some company used to make a mini 1911 in .380 called a "mustang" i believe and one of those would be super fun to play with.

I haven't had any Vaqueros but years ago I owned new model super Blackhawk as well as two older 3screw Blackhawks in 44 and also one in 357mag. The 3 screw rugers were so much nicer. Way more slick. Better triggers. If you were used to the old rugers and had to use the new ones. We'll it was a big difference.
I got Ted up with gun laws and sold everything off. I really regret that decision now.
Of all the handguns that I used to have the 3 screw rugers are the ones I miss the most.

Yes, Dad got a NP30 and Para Ord SF45 both are double stack and thick..

Browning made a small 1911 in 380, mustang sounds like Colt.
