1911 in a caliber other than .45ACP?

Anyone making an affordable one in 10mm these days? By affordable I mean competitive with a glock 20

.45

Not even a valid question really.

There are lots of good reasons to get it in 9mm, but if you're not into 1911's and are just going to own one it should be .45 government.

If I'm not too late with my advice, I suggest you don't get one at all. See, here's the very REAL PROBLEM with 1911's, they are just like those chips where you cant have just one. I started with a Remington R1 .45acp, then a Ruger SR1911 also .45acp, then a Norinco 9mm, and finally a Colt .22lr. Now here I am with for of these bloody things and always looking for the next good deal. Save yourself the headache and just avoid them altogether, or be ready to buy one, then another, then another etc etc.

good advice

If you're a bargain buyer, GSG makes a good sporting 1911 in 22lr. SAM makes 9mm 1911's as well, I havent seen too many .40 1911s out there but I bet there's one for you if you look hard enough.

The reason I bought a 1911 is because it's a heavy .45acp that handles recoil a lot better than some polymer frames I've used on other guns. Historically, it's always been one of the best .45acp handguns on the market, and so many appreciate them for that reason.

You can buy a .22 or 9mm 1911 no problem, but I'll tell you right now, you'll buy another in .45acp later. You'll see.

I've been thinking of getting a 1911 in something other than .45ACP too. But I'm leaning the other way and keep looking at 460 Rowland conversions. I think that would be a lot of fun.

i haven't seen anything in the sub 1K range. Para has a long slide hunter model that was selling for $1200 a few months ago. The Kimber target goes for around $1350.

When I first started shooting I watched one of the Range Officers at Crumlin in London shoot 5 bullets through one hole at 25 yds with a .38 super 1911. We all looked at the target and were stunned. The guy said "Damn, I haven't shot this gun in over a yr. Im gonna save this target" Since then Ive wanted a .38 super 1911 and I want to tune it for accuracy and mod it so its tighter than a nun's you know what.

I've got three 45's , a 38 super race gun, a Delta 10mm, 2 22's and a Spartan 9. The one I shoot the most? Spartan 9. Mostly because I've got lots of 9mm reloads and it's cheap to shoot.

Your first 1911 in .45 by all means. And after you get to enjoy it guess what, your second 1911 purchase will likely be in .45 as well.

I bought my first .45 about 15 months ago and now I have 6 of them. I have always hated picking up rifle brass and now all this .45 brass makes me crazy. My wife said I have always been a sucker for punishment. You guys are right though, the 1911 in .45 is a class act!!!

I'm biased because I have one in 9 so I don't see a problem with it, but it doesn't mean I dont want one in .45.

At the time I got it because ammo was cheaper and I could stock up on one caliber for my m&p and 1911.

good looking gun, even if it only shoots 9;)

Haven't had my Norinco 1911 Sport even a month now and already I'm spending money left right and center.

Functionality wise, all I may need is to polish the feed ramp tho I still have to test different brands of ammo and magazines to see what it likes best.

Getting a reloading press for Xmas so I can start cranking out my own .45ACP over the winter months........the bug bit me deep and hard. :D

I have a good 1911 that is cambered in .40S&W. It is a joy to shoot. Shoot the 1911 and than grab the Glock, what a difference. I can see the advantage of a 1911 in 9mm as it would be a light accurate easy shooter. The .40S&W ammo isn't that much more than 9mm if you can find a sale deal. I just bought a 1000 rounds for around a couple hundred bucks.
