1911 unbearable thought

Absolute reliability...Kimber Tactical Custom II

Only 1911? It would need to meet the following criteria:
- 9mm
- Stainless frame and slide with a matte finish (dark earth or black/olive)
- Full size frame and slide
- Novak (or similar) sights
- Standard hammer and grip safety
- Long trigger
- Light rail
- Flat mainspring with lanyard loop
- Rubber grips (don't care, really)

I figure with a gun like this you have somthing reliable, tough, with easy to find ammo. I pistol that can do everything with some degree of effectiveness. However, I'd probably buy a Cz before a 1911 if money were to magically appear in front of me

I love my Kimber Tactical Pro (106mm, alloy frame, all the goodies) and my STI Edge for IPSC, but if I could have only one and price was no object, I would own a Wilson Combat Tactical Super Grade in .45 ACP. One day I'll have it.

Another one I could live with..... reworked USGI frame with a modified Colt Series 70 topend.......

I would go with my current piece.

My custom built IPSC Standard gun. Millenium Custom LHE model built by Derek Janowiz out of Florida. Derek is pretty good guy and great to deal with. In a world of "custom" gun builders in were you get what we build you - Derek will build you what you want. A true custom experience. I wouldn't look anywhere else after my dealings with Derek.

Questar International made it real easy to import and I will be using them again. No excessive paper work and fees were ok too.

Note the front sight was replaced by myself and it shows. :'(

I am in the very nice position, given those criteria, of being able to say it most likely would be the self-same 1911
that is the only one I have ever owned - a lovely 1914-production WWI Canadian-purchase gem - :D

I have also a C series 915xx 1917 colt,not my only Colt but I like it lots.

Is It Just Me?

Is it just me? When I read this post I thought of a 1911A1 that I could use for the rest of my life. Instead, I see beauty queens. Many know I have a large collection of 1911s but I opted for one that can do it all for me. My Para 14 serves well for a range, car, truck, home defense, and in a pinch CCW weapon. Regards, Richard :)

1911's we could 'live' with....

Or restoed 1942 Colt USGI 1911A1 which also could be the platform for a Colt .22 conversion unit.
