1911's Pics Thread

That one stands out a bit in your collection NAA, it’s harder for you to mislead your wife when she asks how many 1911s you have when they don’t all look alike.

Fortunately, not something I have to be concerned about with my SO..... ;)

It's a Singer clone created from a completely unmarked Norinco frame & slide with authentic USGI parts added where required.

Clearly my knowledge of details is lacking. Great looking clone anyways. I don't know a whole lot about the WW2 era 1911's but I do know that companies that were making everyday items such as typewriters, railroad accessories, and sewing machines had to transition to 1911 production to support the war effort. I think its super cool. It leads me to wonder what companies would be doing the same today if such need ever arised.
Thanks for sharing.

The big 4 of WWII USGI 1911A1 production [in order of numbers produced] were: Remington Rand [over a million]; Colt [about a million]; Ithaca [about 400K] and Union Switch & Signal [55K].

Remington Rand's claim to fame pre-war was typewriters. They made some pretty good 1911A1's though.

This is my Satin Chrome Nork. Bought it lightly used from Goebels in London. It still had brown gunk in every corner. I cleaned it up, and know why the original owner traded it in.
1) Sights were way off, and I don't think the previous owner ever figured out how to adjust it. The rear sight is counter intuitive, but I did figure it out, and rather like it.

2) I had to rework the slide catch by building it up a bit with TIG then reworking it's shape to not interfere, but still be activated by the mag follower. Very easy, and I have done more than a few for other Nork owners.

The only other modification I did was I found a set of NOS Rosewood grips at a Gunshow, and replaced the original hard rubber ones. Pretty gun now!! The rubber ones were more comfortable though LOL.
It loves light 200 gr LSWCs and is crazy accurate. I use it for Bulls Eye and ocassionally for PPC; and will eventually give it a go for IDPA once my extra mags arrive There is nothing I don't like about this gun.
I have one regret, that I did not by their Commander sized one.

I’ve been waiting for this one for quite a while. I have quite a few 1911 but I have a feeling this will be my favorite
