All thats needed is an original slide stop, hammer, grips and grip screws to put it back to stock

That's cool! Did you have it Parkerized? Looks like the trigger is blued and the slidestop and hammer are stainless. If you put some GI grips on and swapped or Parkerized those parts it would look like a mid 40's M1911 but in a Commander. Very cool!

To my knowledge, that is the stock finish, Goal is to take it back to original. Now the parts search begins :)

How does it shoot Danny? Where is the beavertail? ;)

Sorry I missed your posts guys... The AO shoots better then expected. Although the tiny GI sights are exactly that, you can shoot very accurate with them. I did mention that the action and trigger were terrible, also the frame was reamed out a little too far but my gunsmith took care of those things and more. He hated it. I on the other hand expected it with the bad rap AO has and the fact that it's a GI for under $700. Now it's as smooth as I hoped it could be. I bought it for a beater gun. My gunsmith shakes his head at me as he can't imagine why I would want this when I have so many other awesome 1911's. I think you guys understand though:D

NAA, I just can't bring myself to shoot any of my classics as I'm sure you feel the same way. For the money it was a good buy and I'm having tons of fun with it. I tried putting it in my ultrasonic cleaning bath and it removed some of the Parkerizing from the slide - now it looks even better! How many 1911's can you feel good about scratching the s**t out of? Aheh! It's a ton of fun.

New Project, still need to trim the dustcover, final blending of the slide and beavertail and a few odds and ends, but it's coming along nicely.

It's a STI Receiver mated to a Fusion Commander Upper in .40S&W.

hey BW,

Sweet 1911's Danny. I'm really digging the Valor.

Is that original Series 70 or repro?

Hey Paulinski!

Thanks for the nice words. The Valor is one of a kind that's for sure. I see Walt has a few more in stock - worth every cent. That particular Colt is a repro. I like it better then my original. You can never have to many 1911's. Still have your Eclipse?

Who's Walt?

No  traded it for mint Nickel Model 29 from late 70's

I couldn't bring myself to shoot the Eclipse. :(

Here is my first contribution to this thread. It's a Springfield Armory Loaded model from before they started parkerizing them. I like the blued finish but it does make it a bit harder to get a good picture. It shoots like a dream and that's what matters to me.
