Okay guys I have had my fun, now here is the story. I let the cat out of the bag with NAA earlier via PM.
About 14 months ago I was having coffee with Nick from Vulcan Gun Refinishing in Windsor. I had just dropped off a couple of 1911s to get parkerized and we went out to grab some breakfast and shoot the breeze.
Those of you that know Nick, know he is a real WW2 GI expert and collector. We started talking about GI 1911s and the conversation got around to very collectable and rare 1911s and specifically the Singer 1911-A1.
Nick is a fully licensed gunsmith and expert at GI finishes. He really has a love for his craft. It was during that breakfast where we hatched a plan to promote his business and create something special.
What you see here is the prototype for our planned run of 1911-a1 Singer reproductions. We have spent the last year researching, documenting every aspect of the orginal Singer 1911 in order to make it look as correct as possible.
This prototype is beautiful, the picture is just a quick snapshot. The production run will be based on high quality USA made frames and slides matched with exact parts and accurate finish to mimick the original Singer units. They will be custom serial numbered and offered in a presentation case.
The units will be as faithful to the Singer as humanly possible. I will post more detailed pics by mid next week and we should have pricing in a month or so.
There will be a very limited run of about 10-15 units and thats it, as it would not be right to mass produce a replica of such a rare 1911. This will make a nice addition to any collection and think of the fun you will have keeping the guys at the range guessing!
Cheers,
Pocket.
