Well you may be a pimp bellero, but that beauty doesn't look cheap! Or from New Orleans! :p :D

(Just kidding about the pimp thing of course) Beautiful Colt, how old?

Thanks Bittermansbro,
Only a few months old. It's the model #O2071ELC2 from the Colt current catalog. It was my first 1911 and my first time shooting .38 super. I fell in love with 1911's and I'm starting to like that calibre a lot. I'm presently working on importing two more Colt 1911's.

Your Colt Pimp LOL!!

Beautiful Colt. Normally I don't go for nickeled 1911's or MOP grips. But those two go together nicely. Very impressive.... almost too pretty to shoot!

Thanks NAA,

I have to admit that the threads and pictures you posted on here were one of my inspiration to get into collecting Colt 1911's. On that note, what do you know about the Colt 1911's ''EL series''? I know they were distributed by Lew Horton and still are. The Colt Custom Shop is relesing a new model once in a while since they started producing that serie in the 90's.
Here's a list of the model that I know of but they may be more;

• El Aquila Supreme .38 Sup. Engraved
• El Caballero
• El Cabo .38 Sup. 5 in. Bright SS

Also, what good reference book would you recommend for someone who would like to get into collecting 1911's.

Many thanks

I know minimal about the Colt "El" series of 1911's.

Good reference material for 1911 collectors are the books by Charles Clawson. There is also a relatively new one out by Joe Poyer. A Google search would reveal availability.

Thanks a bunch NAA,

I'll look into that

Upgraded trigger, MSH, grips I had layin around, sights from a buddy who installed em for me, and all springs. ALL IN = $450 or less. Not a bad deal and shoots all black on bulsey targets at 50".

well if it is only good out to 50 inches you might want to invest somemore money.

lol j/k nice looking norc!!

Long Slide

Hello Gents,

I've always had a thing for long slide 1911's. Not too sure why maybe too many viewing of the Terminator ;)

Well I finally got my hands on one, while not a 45ACP I'm pretty stoked. Here she is: a AMT Javelina 10mm Hunting Model, a 7" long slide

Hopefully the range trip will keep the love affair alive.

Thanks for the kind comments fellas :)

I picked it up locally at Milarm, someone brought it in on consignment. Was hemming and hawing over it for a week or two before pulling the trigger.

AMT was known for spotty QC but after talking with a former owner of a Javelina, I figured what the heck! It's a cool looking pistol and 7" long slides don't grow on trees ;)

The range trip should be lots of fun :D

what kind of recoil spring and guide rod are you using?
did they make 7'' rods or you are using a 6incher?

That looks great! Proper lubrication is especially important on these all-stainless AMT's.

I hope you'll post a range report. If it is both accurate and reliable, maybe you should consider planning to use it as it was intended and take it on a pig hunt (somewhere in the United States).
