1911's Pics Thread

Looks good. Which magwell are you running?

An old S70 Colt I picked up on the EE a while back, more or less back to correct now with the exception of the Wilson sights and a flat msh. Oddball with a Service Model Ace .22 frame.

As it came to me. WW1 wood in pretty good shape.

An old shooter I pulled out of the safe, '43 Colt frame with Rand top end. Refinished by a previous owner with a set of grips I made. I've posted this pistola before but its been locked up for a long time and it had to get out.

You made those grips? Cool...

Nice grips deadman; is the strategically-placed bottom stock screw intentional? ;)

I've got a couple 1911s to share, starting with two chambered for 10mm. Classic Colt Delta Elite with interesting proof marks indicating it spent some time in Austria at some point. Also, a now-discontinued Dan Wesson Commander Classic Bobtail I was lucky enough to get for cheap from a CGN user a few years back. Even though the commander frame is not perfectly suited to the cartridge, the gun's a work of art. I love the all-steel construction, attention to detail and crazy-tight tolerances. It can easily handle even the hottest 10mm loads. Definitely one of my zombie guns.

And now three .45s. One is an officer size Kimber Compact CDP II. A bit plasticy for my tastes, but I guess light-weight is the point of a gun designed for CC, and it's a real spitfire on the range! Then, a S&W 1911, Doug Koenig edition. Shoots straight and eats every type of cartridge I've fed it, even those super-pointy 155gr cast SWC from the Bullet Barn. One of my favourite shooters. And then there's the 100th anniversary edition S&W 1911. Not too sure if I'm satisfied with the purchase or not. I dig the scrollwork but I'm not sure that's reason enough to keep it. In fact, I recently swapped out its trigger with the DK, 'cause the flat trigger was the only thing I didn't like about the DK...
